Inspection reinforces the safety of motorcyclists during the procession

The Motorcycle Pilgrimage grows with each Círio, and once again the State Department of Transit (Detran) was present at the concentration of the procession to inspect the motorcycles and ensure the safety of the pilgrims.

The Detran teams set up an inspection barrier from 5 a.m. this Saturday (11) at the entrance of Marechal Hermes street. The work continued until the start of the Motorcycle Pilgrimage in the late morning. At the site, 60 agents stopped each motorcycle arriving for the procession to check the driver's and vehicle's documents and the motorcycle's compliance conditions.

"It is a preventive work aimed at screening these motorcycles upon arrival and ensuring that only vehicles and drivers who are within the law participate in the procession. The purpose is to avoid accidents along the procession and, above all, to ensure the safety of the pilgrims," explains the Detran's operations and inspection coordinator, Ivan Feitosa.

Hundreds of motorcycles were inspected, and most were in accordance with traffic laws. Others were found with pending issues, such as overdue annual licensing, no license plate, or with the plate covered, and even with altered numbering. Some drivers were approached with an expired National Driver's License (CNH) or even without the mandatory document.

According to the agents, there are situations that can be resolved on-site, including replacing sandals, which are prohibited, excess passengers, and even people without helmets can acquire the equipment and proceed to the procession. In the case of drivers without a CNH, the guidance was to call a licensed driver to continue in the vehicle without hindering participation in the transfer.

Other cases, such as overdue licensing and alteration of plate characters, cannot be resolved at the time of screening, and the vehicles are removed to the retention park.
Patrício Santos came from Bragança and reports that he always tries to stay regularized throughout the year to avoid problems with inspections. After being approached by the agents and confirming that both the driver and vehicles were all up to date, he and his wife proceeded calmly to the motorcycle pilgrimage. "It's our first time participating, and we are glad to know that this work exists because it guarantees that we will be alongside hundreds of other legalized motorcycles. When I decided to come to Belém, I already checked the motorcycle and took care of all the details to have a peaceful Círio," he reported.

App driver Keven Christian participated in the motorcycle pilgrimage for the second time and already knew he would go through Detran's inspection. Cautious, he regularized his CNH a week before to proceed peacefully with the payment of his promise. "Last week I checked everything I needed to regularize because it is very bad to ride with the fear of being fined, and today I am here very calmly to pay my promise and thank for being able to buy my motorcycle," he said.

Student Alane Assunção came from Igarapé-Açu and did not realize that her CNH was expired. When approached by the agents, she was informed of the irregularity and advised to call another licensed person to continue driving the vehicle. Her sister was called, and within a few minutes, the two were able to proceed safely to the procession. "There was this small inconvenience, but the mistake was mine for not checking my license, and we know that this rigor is necessary, after all, the Círio of Our Lady of Nazaré is a moment of faith and meeting with Mary, and there can be no risk of accidents. I am happy because they guided me, and I was able to resolve it right here to now proceed and fulfill my promise," she thanked.
