On Teacher's Day, celebrated on October 15, the Government of Pará, through the State Department of Education (Seduc), reinforces its commitment to public education by implementing actions aimed at valuing and recognizing educators in the state public network.

Among the initiatives is the payment of the bonus from the Fund for the Maintenance and Development of Basic Education and Valorization of Teaching (Fundef), already carried out last week, benefiting active and inactive teachers. Pará also guarantees the second best starting salary in the country for teachers, amounting to R$ 8,289.89, plus R$ 1,500 in food vouchers.

Similarly, the "School that Transforms" program, considered the largest bonus program for education servers in Brazil, benefited 40,000 servers in 2023 for contributing to the achievement of goals based on the results of the Basic Education Development Index (Ideb).

Results - Investments in teacher valuation, training, and infrastructure are reflected in concrete results. In 2024, Pará recorded a historic growth in Ideb, jumping from 26th to 6th place in the national ranking, establishing itself among the states that advanced the most in public education.

The State Secretary of Education, Ricardo Sefer, emphasizes that valuing Basic Education professionals is one of the priorities of the Government of Pará and a central pillar of the educational policies implemented by Seduc.

“The results that Pará has been achieving in education are a direct result of the dedication of our teachers and the entire school community. The progress recorded in Ideb reflects the commitment, effort, and dedication of thousands of educators throughout the state. The government has been working to ensure better working conditions, quality training, and professional recognition, as well as spaces with adequate and modern infrastructure, since we know that the teacher is the heart of public education,” reiterates the secretary.

In the 2025 fiscal year, the state government allocates R$ 313 million to the program, allowing servers to receive up to 3.5 salaries as a bonus, according to individual goals and performance criteria.

Physical Structure - Since 2019, the government has also been executing a broad program for the reconstruction and construction of schools and daycare centers throughout the state. So far, 171 school units and 12 daycare centers have been delivered, ensuring better teaching and learning conditions. These works reflect the commitment to valuing education professionals, who now have more comfortable, safe, and welcoming environments for teaching.

Through the Center for Training of Basic Education Professionals of the State of Pará (Cefor), Seduc periodically conducts training aimed at pedagogical updating, active methodologies, and the improvement of teaching practices, with an emphasis on improving student performance and the quality of education.

The Transformative Role of the Teacher - For teacher Ângelo Moreira, a biomedical professional and Biology teacher in the state network, the support and incentives offered by the state management have direct reflections on the dedication of educators.

“The state government has provided all the support to teachers, especially in the area of environmental education. We have a team that safeguards us and encourages practical actions related to the environment. I have been teaching for 38 years, and it is a great satisfaction to meet former students who are now professionals, directors, and vice-directors. This shows the impact of education over time,” says Ângelo Moreira.

The teacher also emphasizes the importance of the date to strengthen educators' commitment to their students. “On this Teacher's Day, I wish that we all know how to convey to our students the affection and dedication that our profession demands. The teacher is an extension of the student's family, and together we build paths of learning and transformation,” he adds.

Teacher Laíde Freitas Jacques, originally from the State of Amazonas, with 16 years of teaching experience, shared her journey and love for the profession. Since March of this year, she has been working in the state education network of Pará, in Belém.

“I have been a teacher for 16 years and have had experiences at various stages of education, from Early Childhood Education to High School, EJA (Education for Young People and Adults), and Technological Education. I came to Pará motivated also by financial incentives and professional recognition, and I was very well received by the people of Pará. I have partner colleagues who share the same pedagogical commitment, and this makes me very happy and fulfilled,” she states.

For education in Pará to continue advancing in quality, the Government of Pará reaffirms its commitment to invest in professional valuation policies, ongoing training, and performance incentives, emphasizing the improvement of learning and the strengthening of the public education network.
