Regional Hospital of Marajó promotes 'Group Therapy' for mothers of patients hospitalized in ICU
The initiative aims to promote emotional well-being for patients, companions, and health professionals, strengthening humanized and comprehensive care
The Breastfeeding Room of the Public Regional Hospital of Marajó (HRPM), in Breves, hosted a special meeting of the "Group Therapy" Project, promoted by the Hospital Psychology Department, on Tuesday (14). Five mothers of babies hospitalized in the Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units (ICUs) shared feelings and experiences, strengthening their bond with their children and the health team.
“These moments are essential for comprehensive care. Working on emotions, listening, and belonging greatly aids in recovery and coping during the hospitalization period. The group becomes a space of strength and new beginnings,” said Vinícius Vanzaler, the psychologist responsible for the project.

Approval - Nádia Bruna, 32 years old, shared her experience with the project. “As a health professional, we know how difficult it is to be on the other side, as a mother. The 'Group Therapy' helped me understand that I am not alone. The support from the other mothers and the psychology team made all the difference. We learn to breathe deeply, have faith, and believe that everything will be alright,” said the nursing technician.
The “Group Therapy” is a continuous initiative of the Hospital Psychology Department, which seeks to promote emotional well-being for patients, companions, and professionals, strengthening humanized and comprehensive care, a hallmark of the work carried out by the Hospital in the Marajó Integration Region.
On October 13 of this year, the Group Therapy Project for Mothers of Patients in the Neonatal and Pediatric ICUs of HRPM was presented at the 41st edition of ISQua (International Society for Quality in Health Care), in São Paulo (SP), one of the largest global congresses dedicated to quality and safety in health care.
