Semas strengthens family farming in Serra Pelada with the delivery of equipment to the cooperative
The partnership also includes the offering of training courses on essential topics such as cooperativism, entrepreneurial training for women, and collective businesses
To strengthen family farming and cooperative sociobioeconomics, the State Secretariat for the Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas) delivered, on Thursday (16), equipment to the Cooperative of Farmers of Serra Pelada (Cooasp), in the municipality of Curionópolis, in southeastern Pará.
The activity is part of the Regulariza Pará Program, in partnership with Biocoop, a program to strengthen cooperative sociobioeconomics, from the Brazilian Cooperatives Organization in Pará (OCB/PA), and is part of the Technical Cooperation Agreement No. 008/2025 signed between Semas and OCB. Cooasp currently has 40 members. The equipment benefits about 200 families.

The action was supported by Bravo Mineração, in partnership with the City Hall of Curionópolis and the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Mining and Energy (Sedeme). An automatic packaging machine Dom Pack Plus 2000, 100 g and 1 kg packaging, and 100 g and 1 kg clichés were delivered, which will serve to automate the process of bottling fruit pulps, increasing production capacity and competitiveness.

The cooperative works with the production of various types of fruits, mainly taperebá (also known as cajá). Curionópolis is the second largest producer of native taperebá in Brazil, with an estimated production of 800 tons in the next harvest.
“It is a great happiness not only for Cooasp but also for the entire community, which will now have adequate equipment to sell its production. The cooperative will be able to transform the products into pulps and insert them into school meals, the Food Acquisition Program, and the local market,” said Ramon Marques, president of the cooperative.

Training - At the delivery of the equipment, there was also a symbolic signing of the cooperation agreement between Semas and OCB/PA. The partnership also includes the implementation of training courses (cooperativism, entrepreneurial training for women cooperators, collective businesses) and the transfer of consumables and other equipment to the cooperative, such as a cold chamber.
Representatives from various state agencies were present, such as Emater (Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company), Adepará (Agricultural Defense Agency), and Banpará (State Bank), in addition to the vice-mayor Marcus Vinícius Rocha Chamon, the municipal secretaries of Environment and Agriculture of Curionópolis, the companies Bravo Mineração and Vale, the Terra Institute, the Amazon Bank, and OCB/PA.

“This delivery represents another concrete step in strengthening family farming and sustainable production chains in Pará. Through partnerships like this, the state government ensures not only environmental regularity but also more income opportunities and sustainable local development for communities that live off rural production. Strengthening cooperativism, through support for the structuring of cooperatives, is the main objective of the partnership between Semas and OCB-PA,” highlighted the deputy secretary of Management and Environmental Regularity of Semas, Rodolpho Zahluth Bastos.
