Hospital da Mulher do Pará values medical professionals and a transformative health system
Delivered in March of this year by the Government of Pará, the unit is a reference in specialized health care for the female public

"My motivation is the possibility of transforming lives through care. I have always felt that I could make a difference in people's lives, especially women who sometimes put their health second due to their various responsibilities," says gynecologist Carol Martinez, who works at the Hospital da Mulher do Pará (HMPA) in Belém, about the work she performs at the state public health network unit.

For the professional, working in public medicine is more than just performing a technical function. "It is about leading, innovating in care, and breaking historical barriers, bringing a more humanized perspective, teamwork, and prioritizing the comprehensive care of patients," she emphasizes.
For young people dreaming of pursuing a career in public medicine, Carol Martinez states, "it is possible to transform the world. Public medicine is extremely rewarding, and we can be the protagonists of the change we want to see in the health system."
Transformation - Hospitalist doctor Bruna Fernandes, who is also part of the HMPA team, believes that, especially in public service, sensitivity and care are differentiators in serving the population. "Exercising my work responsibly and honoring the opportunities I receive makes me feel proud. Caring with empathy transforms the patient, and it also transforms the caregiver," she adds.
Inspired by special people, the doctor highlights their importance in her professional journey. "I am the first doctor in my family, but I found inspiration in my mother's strength and her perseverance. I also look up to an aunt who, at 50, decided to study medicine, a true example of humanity and female empowerment," she emphasizes.

The general director of HMPA, intensivist doctor Nelma Machado, emphasizes that the Hospital is a space for valuing and recognizing professionals. "At the Hospital da Mulher do Pará, we are committed to humanized and excellent public health, in addition to having a purpose of inspiring new generations of professionals in the field and reaffirming the essential role of medicine for a more sensitive, ethical, and transformative health system," emphasizes the manager.
At HMPA, professionals gathered for a special moment, commemorating Doctor's Day - October 18, with the presence of the Technical Director, doctor Rodrigo Maneschy, and the Administrative Director Rayssa Werneck.
