Semas promotes environmental conciliation event in Belém
The initiative aims to encourage environmental recovery and preservation through the negotiation of fines and the consensual resolution of administrative processes
The State Secretariat for the Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas) is holding an environmental conciliation event in Belém from October 20 to 24, from 8:30 AM to 3 PM, at its headquarters located at Travessa Lomas Valentinas, No. 2717, Marco neighborhood. The initiative seeks to encourage environmental recovery and preservation through the negotiation of fines and the consensual resolution of administrative processes.
The event aims to facilitate agreements for the payment of outstanding environmental fines, with the possibility of discounts and installment payments. The amounts collected will be redirected to the State government's environmental public policies.
Those interested in participating must present personal documents, such as ID and CPF, at the time of negotiation. In the case of representation by an attorney, it is necessary to present a specific power of attorney for environmental conciliation, in addition to personal documents. Discount - The conciliation procedure covers simple fines, whose amounts are stipulated in the Standard Fiscal Unit (UPF/PA) or in Reais, according to the infraction notices issued after the enactment of Law No. 9.575/2022. Discounts and conditions apply exclusively to this type of penalty.
Environmental conciliation provides benefits for both the citizen and the environmental agency. While the fined party has the opportunity to regularize pending issues with reduced amounts, the State increases its capacity to invest in environmental protection and recovery projects.
According to State Decree No. 2.856/2023, the discount percentages on the value of the simple fine vary according to the timing of the expression of interest in conciliation:
• 50%, when the expression occurs within the deadline for presenting a defense;
• 45%, when it occurs after the deadline for defense and up to the first-instance decision;
• 40%, when it occurs after the notification of passive processes;
• 35%, when it occurs after the first-instance decision and up to the second-instance decision, and
• 30%, for installment payment of the debt, plus the due monetary correction by the Selic rate.
