The continuous inspections by agents operating at the Integrated River Bases "Antônio Lemos", located in Marajó, and "Candiru", in Baixo Amazonas, linked to the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), resulted in the seizure of a firearm last Friday (17) and the execution of a civil arrest warrant against a man on Saturday (18).

Occurrences

The first action, which seized a firearm, took place on Friday night (17), during inspections by the agents of the Candiru River Base, on the Amazon River, in Óbidos, during an approach to the vessel Boiadeiro Paola, which was making the floodplain route in Amazonas, to Alenquer, in Pará.

During the searches, which are part of the agents' actions, a .28 caliber shotgun was found hidden under a water tank. In light of the illicit activity, the crew members of the vessel were taken to the Candiru Base for clarification, and the firearm was seized.

On Saturday (18), during inspections at the "Antônio Lemos" River Base, on the Tajapuru River, in Breves, a civil arrest warrant was executed against a man who was aboard the ship Amazon Star, coming from Manaus and heading to Belém. The judicial order was issued by the Criminal Court of Itapiranga, Amazonas, due to a debt of a food nature. Following the arrest, the man was taken to the Antônio Lemos Base for appropriate procedures.

“The inspection actions of the River Bases, both in Marajó and in Baixo Amazonas, continue to be essential for investigating and combating any illicit activities that may occur in these regions and also for using our rivers to cross cities and enter Pará. Therefore, we continue to work very hard to combat crime and ensure safety in these regions and for all who use the vessels for their movements. This time, we removed a firearm from circulation, unnumbered and that could have been used for some illicit activity, and in Marajó, an outstanding arrest warrant was executed,” explained the head of Segup, Ualame Machado.

Both actions were integrated by agents from the River Group, linked to the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense, Military Police, Civil Police, and Military Fire Brigade, who make up the teams of the River Bases in the regions of Marajó and Baixo Amazonas.
