"Crazy Hat Day" brings joy and tenderness to babies at the Regional Hospital of Marabá
An action in honor of Children's Month transformed the hospital environment into a space of color, love, and creativity, celebrating the lives of the little ones

The famous "crazy hair" and its fun versions arrived at the environment of the Regional Hospital of Southeast Pará – Dr. Geraldo Veloso (HRSP), which gained a touch of tenderness and creativity. This Wednesday (22), the unit, located in Marabá, in southeastern Pará, held the "Crazy Hat Day" with the babies hospitalized in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The initiative was promoted in honor of Children's Month and delighted families.
Gleiciane do Nascimento Miranda, a resident of Dom Eliseu, in the Carajás region, and mother of little Maitê do Nascimento, did not hide her emotion upon seeing her daughter participating in the event. "Seeing my baby with that colorful little hat was emotional. She was born premature, so tiny, and today I could see her being part of a beautiful party, full of love and hope," Gleiciane said, with teary eyes.

During the event, the babies received hats made with playful and colorful themes, small crowns, animals, bows, and children's characters that transformed the NICU environment. The action was accompanied by music and messages of affection.
The nurse in charge of the department, Mayara Feitosa, highlighted the significance of the initiative. "These small actions bring emotional relief to parents and to us, professionals. Seeing a mother's smile and the sparkle in the eyes of those who are here daily is what motivates us to continue providing humanized care full of empathy," she explained.
Humanization and affection in care

The action is part of the humanization activities promoted by the Regional Hospital in Marabá, which aim to transform the hospital environment into a space of welcome and sensitivity. According to the unit's humanization analyst, Dayane Uszinsky, these moments strengthen the bond between the team, patients, and families.
"Every gesture, no matter how small it seems, has a huge impact on the recovery and emotional state of families. The 'Crazy Hat Day' is a reminder that health care also involves affection, color, and joy, especially when it comes to such fragile and full of life babies," the professional explained.
The hospital's executive director, Flavio Marconsini, emphasized that the action symbolizes patient-centered care, a principle that guides all practices of the unit. "More than treating diseases, we seek to care for people. Every gesture of affection, every detail prepared with love, reinforces our commitment to care that values the history, emotions, and well-being of each patient and their family," he highlighted.

The "crazy hats" were made by the nursing team of the NICU, who used simple materials and a lot of creativity. Each piece was handmade, with vibrant colors and personalized details, symbolizing the affection and dedication with which the Regional Hospital treats each of its little patients.

Pediatric reference - Managed by the Institute of Social and Environmental Health of the Amazon (ISSAA), in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), the hospital has 29 exclusive beds for babies and children, divided between the Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units (ICUs), which offer specialized intensive care, and the pediatric clinic that provides a wide range of treatments.
