Civil Police integrates national operation to combat violence against the elderly
On Wednesday (22), the initiative of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security included the investigation of anonymous reports of rights violations in Belém and Santarém
In commemoration of the National Day of the Elderly, celebrated on October 1st, the Civil Police of Pará, through the Division of Assistance to Vulnerable Groups (DAV) and the Delegacy for the Protection of the Elderly (DDPID), held the "D Day" as part of the "Operation Virtue 2025" in Belém, in the Metropolitan Region, and Santarém, in the Lower Amazon Integration Region, on Wednesday (22). The action is an initiative of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), aimed at intensifying actions for inspection, protection, and guarantee of the rights of the elderly.

Bringing together public security and social protection agencies, the actions carried out on Wednesday were aimed at investigating anonymous reports of rights violations against the elderly, through Disque 100, a platform of the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship. In Belém, the action identified 30 priority reports in various neighborhoods of the capital, to hold offenders accountable and ensure access to protection network services.
Inquiries - The action mobilized about 20 Civil Police agents in both municipalities, conducting part of the investigations during the day, which resulted in the establishment of three police inquiries to investigate possible mistreatment, with the elderly being referred to the protection network. The other reports will be investigated in the second part of the Operation.
According to Emanuela Amorim, director of DAV, who accompanied the Operation in Santarém, the work reflects society's demand for public authorities to act against violence towards the elderly population. "It is also important to emphasize that the Operation reinforces the institution's commitment to promoting rights and combating violations of the dignity of the elderly, including neglect, mistreatment, financial deviations, and other forms of violence," explained the delegate.

According to Caroline Batista, head of DDPID in Belém, the actions sought to reinforce the collective duty of respect, care, and appreciation for the elderly. "In addition to repressing violence, it is important to highlight the prevention and awareness of society about the rights of elderly people in our State. It is essential to promote a culture of respect and reaffirm the role of the Civil Police in protecting rights," Batista pointed out.
The activities of "Operation Virtue 2025" are scheduled until the end of October, aiming to expand the protection network and reinforce the guarantee of rights for the elderly population.
