State Government delivers the 18th Usina da Paz of Pará, in São Miguel do Guamá
The delivery of the new public facility is also a gift to the local population for the 152nd anniversary of the city's founding, celebrated on the upcoming October 31.
The state government delivered, this Friday (24), the 18th Usina da Paz of Pará, in the municipality of São Miguel do Guamá, in northeastern Pará. The new unit of the largest citizenship complex in Latin America has arrived to integrate the public policy of the Territórios pela Paz (TerPaz) program and, from now on, will become a reference in guaranteeing citizenship, opportunities, and social inclusion for thousands of families. The delivery of the new public facility is also a gift to the local population for the 152nd anniversary of the city's founding, celebrated on the upcoming October 31.
During the delivery ceremony, the governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho, highlighted the satisfaction of being able to provide another Usina da Paz for the state's population. "This is a special moment for all of us, as we open another Usina da Paz. This is a facility that represents the largest citizenship program in Brazil and Latin America. This is the 18th Usina delivered by the state government and, at this moment, it arrives in São Miguel do Guamá, this extraordinary city, which will complete another year of life on the next 31st and which, today, in advance, receives this wonderful gift that will represent social transformation and opportunities for the families of the city," he declared.
The vice governor of Pará, Hana Ghassan, stated that all the people of São Miguel are welcome at the new Usina da Paz. "The Usina is officially delivered and will be the second home for all residents. Starting next Tuesday, the Usina will be open for everyone to come and get to know it. I wish success to all the staff who will work here and that the entire population is received with love and care. This is a moment of unity and prosperity for our state, so count on the government for everything that is needed, as we will always be with the population," said the vice governor of Pará.
The mayor of São Miguel, Eduardo Pio X, thanked for the delivery and emphasized the importance that the new facility will have for the municipality. "We are in the week leading up to the 152nd anniversary of our city, and nothing is better to celebrate this date than the delivery of a Usina da Paz, an instrument that will take care of people and transform lives," he stated.
Structure and Services - Located on Sapucaia Street, in the Jardim América neighborhood, this is the second Usina da Paz delivered by the state administration in the Guamá Integration Region, which already has another unit in the city of Castanhal. Like the other Usinas in operation, the space will gather, in one place, more than 70 free services in the areas of health, education, sports, culture, leisure, and professional qualification, in addition to activities focused on sustainability and entrepreneurship, which will benefit around 55,000 local residents, as well as neighboring municipalities.
The complex has two main buildings, Assistance and Usina, with rooms equipped for medical and dental care, document issuance, vocational courses, and social assistance. There are also spaces for practicing sports activities, such as a multipurpose gym, swimming pool, and open court, as well as dance rooms, libraries, computer rooms, music, studies, and gastronomy, a multicultural square, sewage treatment station, among others.
The project began in August 2023 and the construction was carried out through a partnership between the government of Pará and the company Vale.
Benefits for the population - For the residents of São Miguel do Guamá, the new Usina da Paz represents the hope for a future with more opportunities, as highlighted by resident Ana Maria do Socorro, who also recalled the changes brought about by the construction of the new state citizenship complex. "Here before was a thicket, there were hardly any houses. Now we are very happy because we are seeing that, with the Usina, a lot of good things are coming here," she celebrated.
Resident Iranilde Moura emphasized the improvements that will be generated from the new Usina da Paz. "The Usina will improve a lot, as it is a place where people will be able to take courses and gain more knowledge. It is a 'show de bola' structure that São Miguel do Guamá is gaining. It is wonderful," she emphasized.
Usinas da Paz - The Usinas da Paz are citizenship complexes implemented by the government of Pará with the aim of promoting social inclusion, reducing violence, and improving the quality of life of the population in vulnerable areas. The project is part of the Territórios Pela Paz (TerPaz) Program and, since 2021, when the first Usina da Paz was delivered, it has already guaranteed more than 10.5 million services.
In the context of public safety, the Usinas contribute to significant reductions in the rates of Intentional Lethal Violent Crimes (CVLI) in the areas where they are located, with percentages reaching a 90% decrease, indicating effectiveness in promoting public safety and improving quality of life.
"Today is a historic day for São Miguel do Guamá. The inauguration of the new Usina da Paz represents another firm step in generating more opportunities and dignity for all. This facility arrives to transform lives, bringing services, citizenship, culture, sports, and professional qualification to those who need it most. Just as it already happens in other Usinas da Paz, we are sure that São Miguel will also experience a new reality, with more social inclusion and hope for the future," declared the State Secretary of Citizenship Articulation, Elieth Braga.
