Agents from the Antônio Lemos River Base Arrest Man for Drug Trafficking in Marajó
The arrest occurred after an anonymous tip. Police were informed that the man was selling drugs in a soccer field.
Security agents operating at the Antônio Lemos River Base, linked to the State Secretariat of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), arrested a man on Thursday (23) for drug trafficking and possession, in a soccer field near the Jaburu River, in the Breves strait, Marajó Archipelago.
According to information passed to the police, the man was known in the region for selling drugs. After an anonymous tip, a team went to the location identified as a drug distribution point. Upon noticing the presence of security forces, the suspect resisted and attempted to flee in a small boat (rabeta). After searches, he was located and detained for standard procedures.
The action reinforces the commitment of security forces to dismantle criminal activities in hard-to-reach areas through river bases.
Ualame Machado, head of Segup, emphasizes the performance of the teams in combating crime and preserving social well-being. “The inspections being carried out on the rivers of Pará are essential to preserve state security and, especially, the safety of the communities that live and move through the river network of the Marajó Archipelago,” he stated.
26 grams of oxi, a cocaine byproduct similar to crack, and approximately 536 grams of a substance similar to skank (marijuana) were seized. The suspect is at the disposal of Justice. The drugs will be examined and destined for destruction.
