Sefa seizes over R$ 239 thousand in irregular alcoholic beverages in Santana do Araguaia
The fiscal action took place at the Barreira do Campo post and resulted in the retention of loads of cachaça, vodka, and brandy without the collection of ICMS
The State Department of Finance (Sefa) seized, last Thursday (24), a shipment of alcoholic beverages valued at R$ 239,872.00, during an inspection at the Barreira do Campo tax post, located on PA-441 highway, in Santana do Araguaia, southeastern Pará. The operation was conducted by officials from the Coordination of Goods in Transit of Araguaia.
Among the seized goods were 1,700 packages of fruit vodka, 600 boxes of cachaça, and 140 boxes of brandy, originating from the State of São Paulo and declared destination in Santana do Araguaia.
According to the coordinator of Goods in Transit of Araguaia, Renato Couto, the seizure occurred after the identification of fiscal irregularities.
"The truck with alcoholic beverages stopped for inspection and, upon analyzing the fiscal documents, it was found that the ICMS had not been collected in advance upon entering the State,” explained the official.
During the verification, it was also found that the recipient company of the load did not exist at the address provided in Santana do Araguaia. In light of this, the Regional Coordination of Redenção suspended the company's registration.
Sefa issued the Seizure and Deposit Term (TAD) in the amount of R$ 149,211.90, referring to the tax due and the applied fine.
The State Department of Finance reinforces that inspection actions at control posts are part of measures to combat tax evasion and ensure fair competition among taxpayers.
