The strength of Amazonian cocoa, especially that produced in Pará and Bahia, will be represented at this year's Chocolate Salon in Paris. The program starts on the night of this Tuesday (28) and runs until next Sunday (2). From Pará, eight producers from the municipalities of Castanhal, São Francisco do Pará (both from the Guamá River integration region); Medicilândia, Uruará, Rurópolis, Pacajá (from the Xingu integration region); and Novo Repartimento (from the Tucuruí Lake integration region) are participating in the traditional event.

On the morning of this Tuesday (28), the producers participated in a business round at the Brazilian embassy in France. The coordination of the Pará mission is by the Secretary of Agricultural Development and Fishing (Sedap), which coordinates the resources of the Cocoa Support Fund of the State of Pará (Funcacau). The Fund finances the delegation's participation.

The participation of Pará is part of the International Mission Origin Brazil. This is the 30th year of the traditional salon, considered the most important in the segment. The Sectoral Chamber of the Cocoa Production Chain and Agroforestry Systems of Pará, based at the Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of Pará (Faepa), also integrates the Pará delegation.

Brazil will be honored at the Chocolate Salon in Paris

Brazil will be honored at this commemorative edition of the salon in recognition of the encouragement of cocoa production, which is one of the most active in the world. The tribute also marks the holding of COP 30 (United Nations Conference on Climate Change).

Chocolatiers Léo Vilea and Tati Benazzi – who participated in this year's edition in Belém of the Cocoa and Chocolate Festival in Altamira and Belém - held in partnership between Sedap and the Federation of Agriculture of the State of Pará (Faepa) – will present at the Chocolate Salon the work "Guardians of the Forest." The sculpture made with over 300 kg of chocolate pays tribute to Amazonian biodiversity.

Brazil produced approximately 298 thousand tons of cocoa beans in 2024, with Pará being the largest producer in the country, according to the latest data released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Pará produced 137.46 thousand tons of the fruit in 2024 (IBGE base year).

Pará is among the main cocoa hubs, cultivated sustainably, which opens doors for business and partnerships

Business round with producers from Pará

As part of the program of the Pará mission, a business round was held on the morning of this Tuesday (28) at the Brazilian embassy. The round focused on cocoa and derivatives and included the participation of producers from Pará and Bahia.

The recognition of Pará among the main producers of sustainably cultivated cocoa opens doors for new business and partnerships, as noted by the coordinator of the Cocoa Production Chain Development Program of Pará (Procacau) from Sedap, Ivaldo Santana.

“This round is important because it opens doors for the commercialization of quality beans and their derivatives, especially chocolate. The buyers are mostly Europeans,” he said.

The Chocolate Salon takes place at the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Park. 500 exhibitors from 60 countries will participate. The opening of the program takes place at 7 PM this Tuesday (28).
