The Civil Police of the State of Pará, through the Directorate of Assistance to Vulnerable Groups (DAV), carried out this week Operation Artemis, focusing on combating child and adolescent sexual exploitation and the illegal offering of alcoholic beverages to children and adolescents in the Metropolitan Region of Belém. The initiative involved the participation of the Directorate of Administrative Police (DPA) and the Coordination of Operations and Special Resources (CORE).

The operation was based on anonymous reports received through the Disque 100 channels of the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship, and Disque 181 of the State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), which reported risk situations in commercial establishments in the capital of Pará.

More than 35 civil police officers participated in the operation, inspecting bars, nightclubs, and similar establishments in various neighborhoods of Belém, including the district of Icoaraci. "We mobilized teams from the three involved directorates to inspect reports of illegal alcohol supply to minors, as well as possible cases of recruitment and sexual exploitation of children and adolescents. We also took the opportunity to promote the campaign that reinforces the prohibition of alcohol sales to this audience," highlighted Delegate Emanuela Amorim, head of DAV.

In addition to the repressive approach, the operation had a preventive character, with the posting of informative posters in high-traffic areas and guidance to owners and employees about the risks and legal sanctions related to these crimes.

Notified establishments and fines

During the inspections, four locations were notified by the Directorate of Administrative Police for irregularities: two had expired licenses and two others were operating without any authorization.

“At one of the inspected points, in the district of Icoaraci, two men reacted aggressively to the approach and were taken to the Urban Section of Icoaraci, where they were charged with contempt,” reported Delegate Andrezza Franco, coordinator of the actions by DPA.

Comprehensive protection and institutional articulation

Operation Artemis reinforces the Civil Police's commitment to the comprehensive protection of children and adolescents, in accordance with the Statute of the Child and Adolescent (Law No. 8,069/1990). The integrated action between DAV, CORE, and DPA demonstrates the priority given by the Government of Pará to addressing the violations of rights of vulnerable groups.

The initiative also highlights the importance of society's participation in anonymous reports, which are essential for the prevention and accountability of crimes against childhood and adolescence.

“Our commitment is to ensure that every child and adolescent grows up free from violence, neglect, and exploitation. We work in a technical, humane, and coordinated manner to protect the life and dignity of the most vulnerable,” reinforces Emanuela Amorim, head delegate of DAV.
