The Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat for Social Assistance, Labor, Employment and Income (Seaster), delivered the temporary benefit on the morning of this Monday (03), to six families residing in the Metropolitan Region of Belém. The delivery of the bank orders took place at the Seaster headquarters, in the Nazaré neighborhood of Belém, by the team from the Directorate of Income, Citizenship and Poverty Alleviation (DRCCP).

Temporary benefits are provided for in the Organic Law of Social Assistance (Loas) and are offered to citizens and families who do not have the means to cope with adverse situations on their own, such as death, temporary vulnerability, or public calamity, which compromise human dignity. The benefit is granted, on average, for three months, in an amount equivalent to one minimum wage per month.

“The structure of my house started to give way on one side. The roof broke, and when it rains, everything in the kitchen and the two bedrooms gets wet. The floor broke, one part is sinking and it looks like it will fall. The benefit came at a good time. I had no way to get this resource,” said Raimunda Ferreira.

This action is part of the public policy of social protection implemented by the State Government, through Seaster, which works to guarantee rights and address emergency situations throughout Pará.

“I have already been assessed by the Civil Defense and Fire Department, I received reports confirming the structural danger. This assistance came at a very important moment because my house has cracks, compromised parts, and poses a risk to those who live in it. With the benefit, I intend to make the necessary repairs for my own safety,” said Marilene Oliveira, a self-employed worker.

With the aim of promoting more dignity and income security for a fresh start for vulnerable families, the Government of Pará reaffirms its commitment to a social assistance that is increasingly humanized, efficient, and present.

“The Government of Pará is committed to the population that needs it most. And this assistance is a way to ensure that families affected by emergency situations have support to restart, and this is our role, to stand by these people and thus provide adequate conditions for them to overcome difficulties,” emphasized Inocencio Gasparim, head of Seaster.
