Belém received, on this Tuesday (4), the docking of two cruise ships at Outeiro Port, a district of Belém, which will function as floating hotels during the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30). Together, the vessels have more than 3,900 cabins, guaranteeing 5,000 beds for event participants.

The operation was contracted by the Federal Government, in coordination with partner agencies, and was accompanied by the Minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa, the Director of Operations of Secop, Gabriela Lima, and the President of the Pará Dock Company (CDP), Jardel Silva.

The transportation scheme between Outeiro Port and the City Park, the venue for the environmental conference, includes exclusive bus lines for accredited individuals, with priority routes and travel time reduced by up to 40 minutes, thanks to the new Outeiro Bridge, a project delivered by the Government of Pará. The connection ensures efficient logistical integration and comfort for visitors.

“I timed it: it took 33 minutes and 27 seconds from the COP location to the reception center at the port. It’s faster than most houses and inns that people will look for. These ships offer safety and availability of accommodation for those coming to participate in the conference, whether to work or just attend the event,” said Minister Rui Costa.

Capital in the Amazon - Regarding the symbolic transfer of the federal capital to Belém during the conference, Rui Costa emphasized that the initiative “seeks to honor and reciprocate the warmth and affection that the people of Belém and Pará are demonstrating in hosting this COP.”

Jardel Silva highlighted that the port was delivered in record time and will establish Outeiro as a new gateway for international tourism in the Amazon. “We delivered a port ready to receive cruise ships. Welcoming these two transatlantic ships marks a historic moment for the State of Pará and for the people of Pará,” said the president of the CDP.

The new terminal features a reception with bilingual volunteers, enhanced signage, reference maps, and a 24-hour mobility scheme, connecting the airport, the port, and the boarding areas, with internal transport after security procedures.
