Sefa participates in panels at the Pará Pavilion during COP 30

The tax authority participates in the programming of the Pará Pavilion and the Municipal Pavilion

Secretariat of Finance of Pará (Sefa) focusing on innovation and sustainable practices of fiscal policy

The Secretariat of Finance of Pará (Sefa) will participate in the programming of COP30 (30th World Conference on Climate Change) in Belém, from the 10th to the 21st of this month. The Sefa team will be involved in panels held in the Green Zone, at the Pará Pavilion. “These are topics related to the tax authority, highlighting innovation and the connection with sustainability,” explains the Secretary of Finance, René Sousa Júnior.

Next Monday (10), the topics will be: Tax Authority and Citizenship in the Amazon, with the Undersecretary of Tax Administration Eli Sòsinho, sharing a bit about the experience of the Fiscal Education Program in Pará.

Green Taxation and Socioeconomic Development will be the theme of the lecture by Secretary René Sousa Júnior. He will discuss the state's strategies to encourage environmental preservation through fiscal policy that promotes sustainable practices.

Ana Paula Carvalho Azevedo, a civil servant from the Administration Directorate, will show how the state tax authority has been integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices into public management, based on the theme Sustainable Transformation in Public Management of SEFA.

On the 17th, the topics will be: Environmental Asset of Integral Protection in the Brazilian Amazon, with Secretary René Sousa Júnior, discussing the initiative of the Inter-State Consortium of the Legal Amazon (CAL), which aims to create economic mechanisms to recognize and reward the value of environmental assets of Integral Protection Conservation Units.

Also, on the 17th, there will be a discussion on “Funcacau: Financing the Sustainable Future of Cocoa Culture,” with state revenue auditor Raimundo Cardoso de Miranda. He will address what Pará has been doing to integrate the strategic value chain aimed at the Amazonian bioeconomy, highlighting agroforestry systems that reconcile productivity and conservation.

Impacts of Tax Reform for municipal managers

On the 18th and 20th, the Secretariat of Finance will participate in the programming of the Pará-Municipal Pavilion, with two lectures aimed at municipal public managers. “Impacts of Tax Reform on States and Municipalities,” on the 18th at 4 PM, will discuss the impacts of tax reform on municipal finances and the transition to the new taxation model with the IBS (Tax on Goods and Services).

On the 20th, also at 4 PM, the topic “Impacts of Consumption Tax Reform on State and Municipal Finances” will be presented, analyzing the effects of replacing the Tax on Goods and Services (ICMS) and the Tax on Services (ISS) with the IBS.
