The Government of Pará, through the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of the State of Pará (Emater-Pará), participated, this Monday (10), in the opening of the program of the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), in Belém. With the theme "Amazonian Bioinputs: Converting Organic Waste into Productivity for Fruit Trees", in partnership with the State Secretariat for the Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas) and the Federal Rural University of the Amazon (Ufra).

Focusing on technical assistance and rural extension to family farmers, agronomist and rural extensionist Antônio Carlos, from the Santa Bárbara Local Office, emphasized the work developed by the public ATER company during the "Forest COP".

"The focus of my work is organic composting as a goal to achieve the development of rural communities, with a differentiated process, improving not only the quality and production of these compounds for family farmers but also fostering scientific development. Bringing our work with family farmers to the public is a great satisfaction. The agenda of what we do is very important, and presenting a topic like this during COP30 is very gratifying," he explained.

The panel, held in the Samaumeira Room, was attended by the maximum capacity of the audience, and in the agronomist's assessment, the debate demonstrates Emater-Pará's commitment to generating and putting scientific knowledge into practice for a much more sustainable future and climate justice, with direct support for improving agricultural production by small family farmers.

"It was very interesting because we started with a completely sustainable discussion, which focuses on producing a scientific element capable of modifying family agriculture, modifying fruit growing as a whole, by producing an agricultural asset that has the weight of restructuring the soil, making this change to improve this soil and the life of the family farmer. For me, as a representative of Emater, it is very important to be involved in these debates because we are an active institution in these transformations, with actions in change and in the generation of knowledge and its dissemination," he said.

Environmental strengthening - The Pará Pavilion is a space that brings together more than 350 activities, including meetings, panels, exhibitions, and debates on climate and sustainable development, during COP30 in Belém.

The space was set up in the Green Zone, in the City Park, and has as its central point the participation of Pará institutions in the conference and will present to the world the leadership of the State in building climate solutions and strengthening the Amazonian green economy.
