Passenger movement is permanent at the Tamandaré Hydroviary Terminal in Belém, with a record of 9,292 passengers

In just one week of operation, the Tamandaré Hydroviary Terminal has already recorded 9,292 passengers boarding and disembarking through the new space by 1 PM this Tuesday (11). The number demonstrates the rapid adoption of users to the terminal, which began its operations on November 4, as part of the works of the Tamandaré Linear Park, delivered by Governor Helder Barbalho, one of the structural legacies of COP 30.

Luciano Dias, general director of the Regulatory and Control Agency for Public Transport Services (Artran), responsible for regulating the river system, highlights that this first week of operation confirms how much the Tamandaré Terminal was awaited by the population. "The passengers' adherence was immediate and shows that the State Government's investment has a direct result in improving mobility and enhancing intermunicipal water transport," concludes the manager.

The Tamandaré Hydroviary Terminal replaced the old boarding point of Ver-o-Peso

The terminal replaced the old boarding point of Ver-o-Peso and marks a new phase in water transport between Belém, Barcarena, and Cotijuba, ensuring more comfort for passengers, operators, and permit holders.

"The terminal represents a new standard for boarding and disembarking for those using river transport in the metropolitan area. In addition to comfort and safety, we have noticed greater organization among operators and a more welcoming environment for users," said Waldemar Frazão, coordinator of Aquatic Transport at Artran.

In addition to the intense movement, the terminal has a permanent presence of security agencies, such as the Municipal Guard of Belém and the Military Police, who conduct daily and visible patrols in the surrounding area, on the floating platform, and on the pier.

"The feeling of safety is very good, and passengers have commented on this. This constant presence makes everyone feel more comfortable boarding and moving around the space. We have also received a lot of positive feedback regarding accessibility, cooling, and restrooms. Users have really liked the new structure," describes Lucas Ferreira, transport controller at Artran.

Another highlight of the first week of operation was the high demand for trips to Cotijuba Island. During the COP 30 holiday, from November 6 to 10, the operator Transporte Braga reinforced the schedules, offering up to two daily trips. With the end of the holiday, the schedules returned to normal. Currently, trips to Cotijuba occur from Monday to Friday at 12 PM, and on Saturdays and holidays at 8 AM, with a return the next day at 6 AM, departing from Cotijuba to Belém. On Sundays, there is no operation for departure or return.

Space - The work was executed by the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Public Works (Seop), with financing from BNDES, and is managed by the Pará Ports and Waterways Company (CPH). With more than 1,300 square meters of built area, the space features a covered floating platform, snack bar, restaurant, restrooms, waiting room, administrative areas, shops, and ticket counters.
