State brings actions on racial equality, human rights, and climate justice to the conference
Program promoted by Seirdh brings together projects, debates, and institutional arrangements in defense of dignity, diversity, and sustainability
During the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), held in Belém (PA), the State Secretariat for Racial Equality and Human Rights (Seirdh) promotes a program focused on promoting racial equality, climate justice, and the comprehensive protection of human rights.
The actions take place at the Pará Pavilion, in the Green Zone of COP30, and in other spaces in the city, such as Aldeia Cabana and the Professor Orlando Bitar Early Childhood Education Reference Center, with the participation of intersectoral teams, representatives of the justice system, councils, social movements, and partner institutions.
According to the State Secretary for Racial Equality and Human Rights, Edilza Fontes, Seirdh's presence at COP30 represents Pará's commitment to a sustainability agenda and to traditional and vulnerable populations. “COP30 is a unique opportunity to show that the Amazon is also a territory of knowledge, resistance, and rights. Our commitment is to ensure that the issues of racial equality and human rights are central to discussions about the future of the planet,” she emphasized.
Protocol - The Human Rights Directorate coordinates the implementation of the State Protocol for Combating and Comprehensive Protection of Human Rights, a document that defines service flows and rapid response to possible violations during the event.
The initiative involves the creation of a Crisis Office and the operation of fixed shifts, in joint participation with the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship (MDHC) and the City Hall of Belém, at two points:
• Aldeia Cabana – a space for qualified listening, conflict mediation, and psychosocial support - on Avenida Pedro Miranda, Pedreira neighborhood.
• Professor Orlando Bitar Early Childhood Education Reference Center – human rights shift focused on humanized reception and referral of cases of violence, discrimination, and social vulnerability against children and adolescents - on Avenida Governador José Malcher, Nazaré neighborhood.
The actions are part of a joint strategy to ensure safety, dignity, and humanized care for all audiences during COP30, in accordance with the guidelines of the United Nations for major events.
Lectures and debates - The Racial Equality Directorate brings to COP30 projects and panels that engage in combating environmental racism, preserving ancestral knowledge, and strengthening traditional communities. From November 14 to 20, lectures and debates will be held at the Pará Pavilion, in the Green Zone.
On the 17th (Monday), in commemoration of National Black Consciousness Day, Seirdh promotes the event “Zumbi and Dandara: Resistance and Black Consciousness,” with the delivery of the Maria Aguiar Commendation, lectures, cultural presentations, and an audiovisual session.
The program will start at 9 am at the Utinga Camillo Vianna State Park and will continue to the Casa da Linguagem at 2 pm.
The activities reinforce Seirdh's role as a facilitator of public policies aimed at equity, social justice, and respect for human rights, consolidating Pará as a reference in promoting an inclusive climate agenda.
