On this Wednesday (12), the Secretariat of Science, Technology and Higher, Professional and Technological Education (Sectet) participated in the panel "Pronatec and Bioeconomy in the Legal Amazon," promoted by the Secretariat of Professional and Technological Education of the Ministry of Education (Setec/MEC).

The meeting took place at the booth of the Association of Amazonian Universities (Unamaz), located in the Green Zone of COP30 in Belém. The panel brought together representatives from the government, universities, and technical education institutions to discuss the impacts, challenges, and perspectives of professional education focused on bioeconomy in the Amazon.

The Deputy Secretary of Sectet, Keynes Silva, presented the actions that are being implemented in 2025, aimed at expanding professional and technological education throughout the state. The initiatives follow the guideline of strengthening sustainable production chains, offering technical and qualification courses that combine local knowledge, innovation, and sustainability, contributing to regional development.

During the presentation, the consolidated results of 2024 were also presented, when Sectet offered 2,188 vacancies distributed across 39 Professional and Technological Education (EPT) courses, benefiting 15 municipalities in Pará. The training covered areas such as açaí cultivation, stingless bee farming, fish processing, and socio-environmental management, strengthening local production chains and promoting social and productive inclusion.

"Technical training is an essential tool to transform the reality of the Amazon. We are investing in courses that value local knowledge and train professionals prepared to act sustainably in the production chains of the bioeconomy," said the deputy secretary.

Sectet's actions also include initiatives aimed at the economic autonomy of Amazonian women, increasing female presence in the bioeconomy and contributing to gender equity in sustainable productive activities.

At the end, Keynes Silva reinforced Sectet's commitment to consolidating professional education as a strategic axis of sustainable development, aligning state public policies with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda.

The panel was moderated by the rector of the Federal Institute of Pará (IFPA), Professor Dr. Ana Paula Palheta Santana, and included representatives from GIZ – German Agency for International Cooperation, the State Secretariat of Education of Maranhão (Seduc-MA), and the Technological Education Center of Amazonas (CETAM), who shared experiences and challenges in implementing professional education focused on bioeconomy in the Legal Amazon.
