The governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho, participated this Thursday (13) in a lunch promoted by Brazil Journal, an influential media outlet among executives and investors in the country. The meeting, held at EY House in Belém during the COP30 program, gathered more than 20 executives from major companies to discuss bioeconomy, sustainable investments, and the prominence of the Amazon in the global climate agenda.

During the meeting, Governor Helder Barbalho emphasized the central role of the Amazon in climate discussions and the progress of global negotiations at COP30.

“We have an extraordinary presence of delegates — 194 countries debating the future of humanity. This COP will go down in history for strengthening the forest, biodiversity, and the need to act concretely in the face of climate change,” stated the governor of Pará.

Sustainable dialogue

Focusing on strengthening cooperation between the private sector and public power, the meeting sought to build joint solutions for sustainable development, highlighting Pará as a strategic territory for green investments and the new nature-based economy.

Helder Barbalho also reinforced Pará's commitment to leading the transition to a green economy, focusing on bioeconomy and nature-based solutions.

“Pará is today an example of an Amazonian state that seeks to build sustainable development, placing the living and productive forest at the center of solutions for the future. Developed countries need to take responsibility and financially support nations that, like Brazil, preserve large biomes. It is essential to invest in solutions that value the forest and reduce emissions, strengthening the carbon market and bioeconomy,” highlighted the governor of Pará, host of COP30.

The editor of Brazil Journal, Fabiane Stefano, explained that the meeting marked the first time the outlet has held the “Connections” event outside São Paulo, bringing the dialogue between the financial market and the climate agenda to the heart of the Amazon.

“Our goal is to promote a high-level conversation between the private sector and public power, connecting what is being discussed at COP with the decisions that shape the future of sustainable investments,” emphasized Fabiane.

Commitment to bioeconomy

The Vice President of Sustainability, Reputation, and Legal Affairs at Natura, Ana Costa, highlighted the importance of the meeting as a space for dialogue and recognition of Pará's role in building the green agenda.

“It was an important moment of exchange and appreciation for what the State government has been doing, especially with the Bioeconomy Park. Natura has been present in Pará for 25 years and believes that it is possible to unite progress, prosperity, and preservation, demonstrating bioeconomy in practice,” she stated.

The CEO of Aegea, Radamés Casseb, also highlighted the relevance of meetings like this to boost sustainable development in the Amazon region.

“Bringing basic sanitation to the Amazon is one of the most structural ways to promote social justice, climate resilience, and environmental preservation. It is necessary to unite innovation, adapted engineering, and cooperation between companies and governments to transform this reality and generate prosperity in the territory,” said Casseb.

Dialogue for the future of the Amazon

The meeting promoted by Brazil Journal during COP30 reinforced Pará's role as a reference in sustainable development and consolidated the state as a bridge between the private sector, public power, and the international community in building solutions for the future of the planet.
