A kidney transplant performed this month at the Public Regional Hospital of Araguaia (HRPA), in Redenção, is yet another chapter that adds to the series of successful procedures that are part of the unit's history.

The recognition of HRPA is already established in kidney transplants, through news and evaluations that have highlighted the success of these operations, including the performance of multiple transplants in very short intervals of time.

The evaluations from patients' families and professionals testify to the transformations that occur in the lives of chronic kidney patients, who, through a kidney transplant, regain their quality of life after years of hemodialysis.

This time, the moment of hope and transformation arrived for patient Georger Verner de Lima Moraes, 35 years old. Georger had been facing two years of hemodialysis in Marabá (PA) when he received the long-awaited call informing him that there was a compatible organ for the transplant. A journey of 400 km from his city to Redenção was the final step in the journey to undergo the transplant and start a new life.

Every time such a procedure takes place at HRPA, a large network of solidarity and professionalism comes into play. The organ used in this kidney transplant performed at HRPA came from Santarém, in western Pará, and was transported by aircraft from the Public Security Air Group (Graesp). The kidney was harvested at the Regional Hospital of Baixo Amazonas, in that municipality, after the authorization of the donor's family.

It is worth noting that Pará is the only state in Brazil that has a dedicated 24-hour aeromedical service, exclusively for the transplant system, which is essential for the logistics of organ distribution in its vast territory.

From HRPA's side, the promptness, competence, and dedication of the medical and nursing teams involved in the procedures confirm the professionalism of the institution. Therefore, the transplants at HRPA are predominantly positive, consolidating the history of success, as well as renewing the hope of life for patients, and enhancing the hospital's prestige as a reference center in public health in Pará.

The indispensable role of raising awareness among organ donors and their families is evident, as they can make real stories of hope and renewal of lives possible.

The Public Regional Hospital of Araguaia is an institution of the Government of Pará, which serves 100% through the SUS, and is managed by the Association of Health, Sports, Leisure, and Culture - Aselc.

The continuous success of HRPA's transplant program is often mentioned as a reference in nephrology in the southern region of the state, which has as high points the commitment to provide quality assistance, humanized care, and access to high-complexity procedures for the entire region.
