On weekends, strolling along the new waterfront of Ourém is the main choice of nursing technician Margarett Freire, a resident of the municipality, to relax from the week's activities. “I loved the new waterfront, the space became much larger and better utilized, with lighting, food options, and cultural activities. It was a significant gain for those who live in the region, for those who work in the space, and also for the tourists who visit us,” she says.

The inauguration of the new waterfront in the municipality of Ourém, by the State Government, in October, in the Rio Capim region, represents a milestone in infrastructure, urban development, tourism, and quality of life for the more than 18,500 residents of the city. The new public facility has become the postcard of Ourém and the region.

“The new waterfront is already one of the most visited spaces by the city's and region's population. The project reinforces the State's commitment to sustainable urban development. The current administration continues to invest in public facilities that enhance the scenic and tourist potential of our municipalities, generating jobs, income, and quality of life for people,” emphasizes Ruy Cabral, head of the State Department of Public Works (Seop).

Ourém entrepreneur Carla Cruz highlights the appreciation of the city with this delivery. “The new waterfront is much more beautiful, cozy, and family-friendly. The population has frequently used the spaces, especially now that there are various musical programs at the kiosks, adding even more value to the space and strengthening the economy,” she says.

STRUCTURE - With a total intervention area of 18,282.55 m², the project transformed the waterfront into a modern, safe, and accessible space, also promoting leisure, well-being, culture, and local economy for the population and visitors. In addition to green areas with lawns and new gathering spaces, the waterfront features three new kiosks, and the other three that already existed were reconstructed. There were also 28 functional boxes and public restrooms with accessibility built, as well as lighting throughout the entire space.

“We have a wonderful waterfront that is truly being used by the population. For those who work and frequent the space, there is more security, hygiene, and food options, as well as leisure, which has greatly enhanced the space and serves as attractions to increase the population's frequency. Whenever I can, I go for a walk there; I loved it so much,” reports Lene Amorim, administrative agent and resident of Ourém.

GOAL - The reconstruction of the Ourém Waterfront is a partnership between the Government of Pará, via Seop, and the municipal government. The investment was R$ 3,851,541.81. Since 2019, the state executive has delivered 24 waterfront projects in municipalities. Currently, 11 are under construction, and the State's goal is to build 34 waterfronts by the end of 2026.
