Seirdh presents Cine DH Project at COP30 and reinforces dialogue between cinema, human rights, and climate justice in the Amazon
Action integrates audiovisual and education to raise awareness about the environmental challenges of the Amazon
The Secretariat for Racial Equality and Human Rights (Seirdh) participated, on Tuesday (18), in another day of the official program of COP30 in Belém, presenting to the public the Cine DH project: Cinema, Human Rights, and Climate – Special COP30. The initiative integrates the state agenda to strengthen debates on environmental protection, climate education, and social mobilization in the Amazon context.
Coordinated by the Human Rights Directorate of Seirdh, the project uses films and documentaries as tools for awareness and citizenship formation, promoting dialogues that connect art, climate justice, and human rights. During the presentation, the short film “Point of No Return of the Amazon,” produced by WWF-Brasil, was screened.
The director of Seirdh, Gabriela Ferreira, emphasized that audiovisual is one of the most powerful tools to reach diverse audiences and stimulate deep reflections on the climate crisis.
“The Cine DH project was designed so that, through the language of audiovisual, we can bring to children, adolescents, and traditional communities a bit of the discussions about human rights and climate issues, forming critical individuals aware of their own rights,” she stated.
For Solange Azevedo, Engagement Specialist and Content Leader at WWF-Brasil, democratizing access to climate information is essential to enhance social protagonism in facing environmental impacts.
“We always seek to talk about the environment and socio-environmental impacts in a straightforward manner, so that everyone can understand and bring these topics into their daily lives. It is essential to communicate with quality and ensure that this message reaches everyone,” she highlighted.
The initiative also reinforces the commitment of the Government of Pará to public policies on climate justice, protection of human rights defenders, and strengthening environmental citizenship. Seirdh continues with programming at COP30 until November 20.
