Fans investigated for attempted homicide and criminal association are arrested
Civil Police carries out the third phase of operation 'Children of Wrath' and executes preventive arrest warrants in Belém and the Metropolitan Region
The Civil Police of Pará, through the Delegacy of Protection to the Fan and Major Events (DPTGE/DIOE), arrested nine people during the third phase of operation 'Children of Wrath', which took place on the morning of this Thursday (20). The arrested individuals are being investigated for attempted homicide, criminal association, organized fan brawl (sports riot), bodily injury, corruption of minors, and alteration of the identifying signal of motor vehicles.
“This third phase is a continuation of the investigations that we started in July of this year, when a specific group of members of an organized fan of the Clube do Remo carried out an attack on rival fans. We collected evidence during the investigations that supported the request for the preventive arrest of those involved, which was executed this morning,” detailed delegate Marcos André Araújo, director of DPTGE.
There are detainees with records for homicide, robbery, theft, and for organized fan brawls, the latter corresponding to the crime of sports riot.
Recall the case:
On July 24 of this year, several members of an organized fan of the Clube do Remo carried out an attack on rival fans in the Sacramenta neighborhood. Videos were recorded by bystanders showing the assaults committed by approximately 10 men striking a fan with sticks, stones, and iron bars.
The assaults continued even with the victim already unconscious on the ground, and those involved shouted indicating the intention to kill the victim due to his supposed affiliation with the opposing fan group. Delegate Marcos André Araújo, director of DPTGE, informed that “in addition to the DPTGE police officers, we also have the operational support of the on-duty teams from the Division of Operations and Special Investigations (DIOE) and the Division of Repression to Organized Crime (DRCO), both linked to the Specialized Police Directorate (DPE), and with support from the Police Intelligence Center (NIP) for monitoring the targets.”
“Operation 'Children of Wrath' combats a criminal association infiltrated in one of the organized fans of the Clube do Remo and seeks to reaffirm the commitment of PCPA to public order, qualified repression of sports violence, and the preservation of peace at sporting events and their surroundings,” concluded the delegate.
All detainees were sent to the headquarters of DIOE, where they underwent the applicable legal processes and are at the disposal of the Judiciary.
