Sefa seizes over 48,000 kg of corn in Marabá
The invoice indicated that the cargo came from Dom Eliseu, in Pará, but the inspectors discovered that the goods actually originated from Mato Grosso
During an inspection carried out on Thursday, the 20th, by inspectors assigned to the Coordination of Goods in Transit Control of Carajás, from the State Department of Finance (Sefa), in the southeast of the State, 48,100 kilograms of corn were seized, valued at R$ 48,581.00.
The seizure occurred at the Carajás Railway tax post, on the PA-150 highway, in Marabá, when a truck transporting goods from the municipality of Dom Eliseu/PA to Açailândia/MA was approached, as stated in the invoice presented.
“The cargo consisted of corn. After document analysis, it was found that the vehicle was transporting goods from the State of Mato Grosso, as verified by the stamp of the Agricultural Agency of Mato Grosso, and did not leave Dom Eliseu, as stated in the tax documentation. Given the discrepancy, an attempt to evade inspection was characterized, which is why the invoice was disregarded, and the advance ICMS collection was due,” explained coordinator Cicinato Oliveira.
A Seizure and Deposit Term (TAD) was drawn up in the amount of R$ 8,161.69, charging ICMS and a fine, which was paid and the goods released.
