The Olympic Stadium of Pará, Mangueirão, is undergoing a special operation to receive, in perfect conditions, the decisive match between Remo and Goiás, valid for the 38th round of the Serie B of the Brazilian Championship, this Sunday (23). The confrontation could guarantee the Blue Lion the long-awaited access to the elite of national football after 32 years.

Post-show recovery and rigorous technical maintenance

Immediately after the Global Citizen Festival, held on November 1st, technical teams began the process of recovering the pitch. The work included cutting, leveling, irrigation, and granular and mineral fertilization, essential procedures to restore the uniformity of the surface after large events.

The operation also includes drainage inspections, checking soil compaction, and adjustments to the automated irrigation system, ensuring that the field meets the standards required by the CBF. The management of Mangueirão conducts daily monitoring until the final release for the game.

The expected audience is over 45 thousand fans, and the Government of Pará is expected to reinforce the security, mobility, and internal services scheme of the stadium.

Agronomist and former blue player leads the recovery

Responsible for maintaining the pitch, agronomist Raimundo Mesquita emphasizes that the preparation has been conducted with technical and emotional rigor.

“After the show, we worked intensively for about 15 days to deliver a pitch in full condition. We did cutting, mineral and granular fertilization, irrigation, and foliar fertilization to ensure an intense green for Sunday’s game,” he explained.

Mesquita detailed that, after dismantling the festival structure, a complete cleaning was carried out with a metal broom, metal detector, and a new cut with a reel mower at 22 millimeters height, followed by NPK fertilization 18-18-18 and continuous irrigation.

A former player of Clube do Remo and an idol of the fans, the engineer does not hide his emotion.

“My heart is tight. I believe a lot in Remo and the strength of the blue mass. If I could step onto the field, I would. Now it’s about cheering with faith and passing that energy onto the field.”

Management of Mangueirão ensures operation to welcome the public

The stadium director, Maurício Bororó, stated that everything is prepared to welcome the large expected audience on Sunday.

“We are ready for this great celebration. We expect more than 40 thousand people and count on the support of all state security agencies,” he said.

Outside the field, the fans are living days of anxiety and hope. For Sávio Morais, Mangueirão will be the ideal setting to push the team towards access.

“It is very important to play at Mangueirão because it is proportional to the size of Remo’s fan base. We believe that both sides will be packed and turn into a true cauldron,” he stated.

Fan William Minowa reinforces the historical weight of the moment.

“The expectation is huge, perhaps one of the largest in recent years. I have never seen my team compete in Serie A. Now it’s up to the team to do its part and the fans to turn Mangueirão into a cauldron.”

With the pitch, structure, and stands ready, Belém prepares for a Sunday that could go down in the history of Pará football.
