Hospital do Baixo Amazonas holds a cardiac catheterization drive
Procedures were performed, attending to patients hospitalized at HRBA and other health units
Since 2016, Hueneude da Silva Bezerra, 44 years old, has been receiving medical follow-up due to a heart problem. He is hospitalized at the Municipal Hospital of Santarém, in western Pará, after suffering a heart attack and, this Saturday (22), underwent two procedures at the Dr. Waldemar Penna Regional Hospital of Baixo Amazonas (HRBA): a cardiac catheterization and an angioplasty.
"It was important, I was waiting for this exam and thank God it happened today. We did the exam and it progressed to angioplasty. Thank God, everything went well. I didn't need to leave Santarém, I did it right here and it went smoothly, without any complications. Now I just need to return to the Municipal, be evaluated by the doctors, and if God wills, be discharged soon to see my wife and children," the patient reported.
As a reference in hemodynamics for the population, HRBA promoted a cardiac catheterization drive, attending to patients hospitalized in the unit itself and in other hospitals, such as the Municipal Hospital and the 24-hour Emergency Care Unit.
Catheterization exams were performed, which consist of the introduction of a thin, flexible tube - called a catheter - into a blood vessel until it reaches the heart, for the evaluation and treatment of diseases, in addition to angioplasty, a minimally invasive procedure for the unblocking of arteries.
"Today we had a drive with diagnostic catheterization and we also had a patient who required intervention and the placement of a stent to correct a lesion in the artery. Thank God all procedures went smoothly and safely. We have a trained and qualified team for this," highlighted clinical and interventional cardiologist José Soares, who is part of the HRBA hemodynamics team.
Procedures - From January to October of this year, the Santarém Regional has already performed over 500 cardiac catheterizations. From Monday to Friday, the unit receives patients for the procedure, with a daily average of five exams.
The hospital serves both patients with more severe conditions who need the procedure urgently, as well as users in lighter treatment, who are regulated by the State Department of Public Health (Sespa) electively.
The hemodynamics service has three specialist doctors and a prepared team of nurses and technicians who perform the procedures. In addition to cardiac catheterization, HRBA also performs coronary angioplasty, limb arteriography, cerebral angiography, and the implantation of a vena cava filter.
"We have a prepared team to offer the best service in the field of cardiology, with the performance of the catheterization exam and other fundamental procedures for the treatment of these patients. The drive is another initiative from HRBA to better serve our population in the western part of the state, which needs the excellent care we provide," concluded the general director of HRBA, Matheus Coutinho.
Service - The Regional do Baixo Amazonas provides 100% referenced service, attending to the demand originating from the State Regulation Center. The unit belongs to the Government of Pará, being managed by the Instituto Social Mais Saúde, in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), and is located at Avenida Sérgio Henn, nº 1100, Diamantino neighborhood, in Santarém.
