Man with an outstanding arrest warrant captured at the Candiru River Base
He was traveling on the 'Itaberaba', which was coming from Manaus to Belém, and was discovered during document verification by security agents
An arrest warrant issued by the Criminal Court of Santarém, in western Pará, was executed this Sunday (23) against a man traveling on a vessel heading to Belém, at the Integrated River Base "Candiru", linked to the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup). The arrest was made following a verification operation on the vessel 'Itaberaba', coming from Manaus (AM). Security on the rivers of Pará remains strong. Continuous inspections by agents at the Candiru river base resulted in this capture on Sunday, the 23rd.
At the time of the arrest, the operational staff of the Integrated River Base 'Candiru', along with teams from the Military and Civil Police, were checking the documentation of one of the passengers in search systems and detected an outstanding arrest warrant for homicide, issued by the Criminal Court of Santarém, in western Pará.
The man was taken to the Candiru Base for appropriate procedures. The Secretary of Segup, Ualame Machado, reinforces the commitment of the forces to ensure safety on the rivers with the strategy of river bases.
"The inspection actions of the River Bases, both in Marajó and in Lower Amazonas, continue to be fundamental for the investigation and combat of any illicit activities that may occur in these regions and use our rivers to cross cities and enter Pará. Therefore, we continue to work very hard to combat crime and ensure safety in these regions and for all who use the vessels for their travels," explained Machado.
