Culture enchants the audience on the last day of the Carimbó Festival at Estação das Docas
The Carimbó Festival of My Pará energized the week of the public who visited the Estação
Hundreds of people attended the Estação das Docas during the days of the Carimbó Festival of My Pará. This Sunday (23), the program ended on a high note, with performances by the Grupo Frutos do Pará, Ayrakyrã, and the band Fruta Quente, which captivated the visitors gathered to enjoy the best of Pará's culture.
The sunset at the complex occurred to the sound of the Grupo Frutos do Pará, which, through dances, told part of the history of Pará's culture and made people of all ages surrender to the rhythms that took over the complex.
Maria Eduarda, a 16-year-old student, was accompanied by her mother during the event and is passionate about Pará's culture. “I love carimbó so much. The dances do me a lot of good because I dance, so dancing has always been good for me, since I was little. I really like to see when people express themselves through dance,” she explains.
“I made art the reason for my living. The group has been around for 33 years, and I am very happy every time we come to Estação das Docas. We were one of the first groups to perform in this space, so every time we are called, I feel gratified because it is the continuation of our work. This stage here is extraordinary,” says Iracema Oliveira, 88, director of the Grupo Frutos do Pará and other artistic segments.
Shortly after, the Movimento Moda Paraense brought the fashion show “Amazon and Resistance” to the amphitheater stage, aiming to present creations by northern artists and concepts of aesthetics, forms, biomaterials, and color palettes from the Amazon region, as well as to democratize and popularize fashion from the North.
“The goal of the movement is to show that there is fashion here too. We are like this: we like colors, we like prints, we like seeds, big necklaces, it’s the Amazonian aesthetic. So, we want to show that there is indeed fashion here. We work a lot on the issue of design in society and culture, and eco-design focused on sustainability and innovation within this proposal. We want to make this grow in the state, so that more and more people are interested in creating fashion, developing products, accessories, bags, shoes, everything with biomaterials that we have in the Amazon,” says designer and design professor Alcimara Braga, the creator of the fashion show.
The group Ayrakyrã got everyone from all over the world moving. Aayush, a 24-year-old Indian, says he is visiting Brazil and Belém for the first time and is enchanted by the energy of the people. “This city is very vibrant, I feel like they are one big family. I love the people here, I dance all day long, I love everything,” he said enthusiastically.
And to uniquely close this week full of musicality, the band Fruta Quente took the stage with a repertoire filled with songs.
Rosângela Monteiro did not miss a day of the Carimbó Festival of My Pará. “Pará is to be congratulated for the events it is holding within our state with COP30. It was all good. People certainly took a good impression of us, Pará residents. I am very happy with the programming at Estação, especially because it is close to my house, so I can come all the time,”
