About 263 kilograms of marijuana seized by the Civil Police in Ulianópolis, Pará
Police seized weapons, ammunition, and cars found on a farm with cultivation and even a climate-controlled greenhouse in the rural area of the southeastern state
The Civil Police of Pará arrested nine people in the act on the afternoon of this Tuesday (25), during the "Weed" operation, launched to combat drug trafficking and association for trafficking in Ulianópolis, in southeastern Pará. The investigated individuals and the seized material were located on a farm in the rural area of the municipality.
The police action was coordinated by the teams from the Ulianópolis Police Station, linked to the Regional Superintendence of Capim, and had the support of the Dom Eliseu Police Station.
"Our investigations began in November of this year when we received an anonymous tip and started monitoring, with the support of the Dom Eliseu Police Station, a large marijuana plantation on a rural property located in Rio das Antas. There was also an exchange of information between the two police stations. When we moved to the address, we conducted surveillance in unmarked vehicles and other diligences to gather data and managed to arrest the owner of a pickup truck used in the logistics of trafficking. The tip also mentioned that there were weapons in the residence, used by the workers on site," said Delegate Denys Rodrigues, head of the Ulianópolis Police Station.
After preliminary diligences confirmed the suspicious movement, the police arrived at the first house on the property, where the targets were found. During the approach, the owner authorized the search of his pickup truck, where a loaded unregistered pistol was found, constituting illegal possession of a firearm. In the property, a homemade shotgun used by one of the detainees and a block of marijuana, which he claimed was for personal use, were also located.
"The man also indicated the owner of the site as the supplier of the drug. In light of this, he was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and drug trafficking. Both were taken to the second house on the property, where the other involved individuals were found. Inside the property, there was a large quantity of marijuana in various stages of preparation, as well as three homemade shotguns and ammunition of various calibers. All were arrested for trafficking, association with trafficking, and possession of weapons and ammunition," continued the delegate.
The detainees indicated the location of the plantation, which is at the back of the property. There, drying shacks, a climate-controlled greenhouse, and plantations with artificial lighting were found. It was even raised that Colombian labor was used in the environment.
"At this location, another man was approached carrying a pistol and was also arrested in the act. All the drugs, weapons, ammunition, cell phones, scales, and paraphernalia were seized and sent to the Ulianópolis Police Station for legal procedures to be adopted," explained Delegate Cristiano Nascimento, superintendent of the region.
The owner of the site also damaged his cell phone before the seizure. In his urban residence, a large quantity of already packaged drugs and precision scales were also found. The equipment used in the cultivation of the plantation, such as air conditioning, appliances, and other related objects, as well as the vehicle mentioned above, were seized. After the diligences were concluded, all the illicit material and the detainees were presented at the Ulianópolis Police Station for the formalization of the arrest record.
"As a result of the operation, we have seized two pistols, four homemade firearms, about 263 kilograms of marijuana, 12 cell phones, about 50 rounds of ammunition and 45 cartridges of various calibers, a roll of string, seven precision scales, three pruning shears, and two pickup trucks, in addition to the arrest of nine people, including eight men and one woman," concluded the superintendent.
