"I am completing 29 years working here and today is one of the best days. This was my dream." The self-employed Daniel Mota is one of the beneficiaries of the New Shopping Center in Benevides, delivered on the night of this Wednesday (26) by the Government of Pará, in partnership with the municipal government. The public facility replaces the old structure with a modern, organized space ready to serve both merchants and consumers with more hygiene, comfort, and safety.

"This Shopping Center represents the opportunity for 146 local commerce operators to be in a suitable place, allowing for an increasingly better environment to receive customers and showcase their products. But more than that, this project allows for the urban organization of the city of Benevides, relocating operators who were improvised in inadequate areas, on sidewalks. The city is now experiencing a new environment with the organization and beautification of this central area of Benevides," emphasized the governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho.

Executed through the State Secretariat of Public Works (Seop), the Shopping Center in Benevides underwent a complete recovery of the physical area of the building, the installation of a new metal structure, application of new coatings, and complete painting of the internal and external areas.

The vice-governor Hana Ghassan also spoke about the importance of the delivery.

“This is not just a project. It is dignity for those who work every day to support their families. There are 146 families directly benefited, but the entire city of Benevides gains from this new space,” highlighted vice-governor Hana Ghassan.

Kelly Silva works selling ice cream and approved the new commercial space in the municipality of Benevides, highlighting the hygienic safety, which prevents the spread of diseases.

"It looks beautiful, different from the place we worked before, it was not suitable. I am very happy to be able to receive customers in a more hygienic space; we had many problems with rats and such. There is also safety, without the worry of break-ins. The score is 10 out of 10! Very good!".

Accessible restrooms, 146 boxes for microenterprises, restaurants, and snack bars were also built, in addition to the establishment of support points for motorcycle taxis and urbanization in the surroundings.

Neto Ferreira, who works in the gastronomy sector, stated that the New Shopping Center in Benevides also ensures more comfort for consumers.

"To be honest, we did not imagine it would have this dimension. It still hasn't sunk in the proportion of this; everything is very new, giving a new face to the city. We can look and see the difference in the environment, a place to feel comfortable. I believe we will attract a public beyond what we imagined. I see that everything will turn out very well."

“What changes people's lives is to deliver. It is not to talk, it is to work to deliver. And this is our commitment to Benevides and to the people of Pará,” said vice-governor Hana Ghassan during the delivery ceremony.

The construction of the New Shopping Center in Benevides ensured the generation of about 130 direct jobs and had an investment of R$ 6,227,628.89.

"The merchants of Benevides have just received another dignified space to work. Moreover, the location maintains and generates new jobs. A project like this is also important for the population, who leave home knowing they can shop in a comfortable and safe public facility," emphasized the Secretary of Public Works, Ruy Cabral.

Government Plans Modernization and Delivery of the Municipal Hospital of Benevides

During the delivery ceremony of the New Shopping Center, the governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho, reaffirmed the commitment to advancing public policies in Benevides and announced that the municipality will be contemplated with another important action in the health sector: the modernization and delivery of the Municipal Hospital of Benevides.

“I know how much the people of Benevides are waiting for this hospital. And I want to come back here as governor to sign the agreement for the completion, modernization, and delivery of the Municipal Hospital. And our vice-governor Hana will be with you to carry out this delivery, ensuring a new standard of care for the population,” highlighted Helder Barbalho.
