On the morning of this Thursday (27), the first day of competition of the Active Life Program Games was opened, with competitions in aquatic modalities at the Association of Legislative Assembly Servers of Pará (Asalp), in Ananindeua. The event is promoted by the government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel).

Participants competed in pool cycling with noodles, freestyle swimming with noodles, and freestyle swimming without noodles, in male and female categories. The events were divided into three categories: A – 50 to 59 years; B – 60 to 69 years; and C – 70 years or older.

Retiree Sandra Costa, 68 years old, a member of the Active Life Program for two years, participated in the Games for the first time and highlighted her satisfaction. “The competition is very good. First year competing, but I have been in the group for two years. I liked it a lot. I loved it,” she said.

The Secretary of Sports and Leisure, Cássio Andrade, emphasized the social role and positive impact of the Games. “The Active Life Program is a public policy that reinforces our commitment to the well-being of the elderly population. Seeing this energy and participation in the Games shows that we are on the right track, promoting health, integration, and quality of life,” he emphasized.

The program coordinator, Márcia Reis, also highlighted the importance of the initiative. “The Games strengthen the bond between participants and value the effort they dedicate to activities throughout the year. Each edition reinforces how sports transform lives and encourage healthier habits,” she stressed.

The second and final day of competitions will take place this Friday (28), starting at 8 a.m., at the headquarters of Tuna Luso Brasileira, in Belém, where there will be board games and dodgeball competitions, concluding with the awarding of participants.
