General Hospital of Tailândia concludes campaign for men's health with exams and information
The General Hospital of Tailândia (HGT), through the Humanization Working Group (GTH), joined the Blue November campaign, offering exams and actions aimed at raising awareness among the male public about prostate cancer prevention and the importance of comprehensive men's health care. More than 20 men underwent the PSA test, among users attended at the unit and hospital professionals.
The activities concluded this Friday (28) with a special program for users, companions, and professionals of the hospital unit. The closing took place at the receptions of the Emergency Room and the Inpatient Clinics, especially in the male wards. Members of the GTH visited the sectors to guide patients and discuss the importance of prevention and early diagnosis.
The activity was facilitated by nurse Samuel Filipe, who provided information on the topic, including preventive habits, routine exams, and warning signs that should not be ignored. During the lecture, the professional emphasized the need to break cultural barriers and prejudices that still keep many men away from health services.
“We still find many men who avoid seeking care due to fear, shame, or the belief that they do not need preventive care. It is essential to break these taboos. Taking care of health is not a sign of weakness. It is an act of responsibility towards one's own life and family. Early diagnosis saves lives, and the first step is to seek guidance and keep up with exams,” highlighted the nurse.
In addition to the guidance during the lecture, printed educational materials were distributed, containing clear and accessible information about prostate cancer prevention, sexual health, and general care. Participants also received clarifications according to their doubts and needs.
As part of the campaign, HGT offered throughout the month Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) tests for the early detection of changes in the prostate. The initiative aimed to show men the necessity of having the exam regularly, especially those over 50 years old or with a family history of the disease.
Approval — Among the beneficiaries is patient Rogério Almeida, who attended the lecture and highlighted the importance of this type of guidance for people who are already undergoing periodic health monitoring. “Receiving this guidance here at the reception made it much easier. It is very important. We are already at the Hospital and can learn more about how to take care of other areas of health. I participated in the lecture, and I found it very good,” said the user.
