The Olympic Stadium of Pará Journalist Edgar Proença, Mangueirão, in Belém, gained a special glow on Saturday night (29). The main stage of Pará football was completely illuminated in red to honor the four-time championship of the Copa Libertadores da América, won by Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, which defeated Palmeiras 1-0 at the Monumental Stadium in Lima, Peru. The title-winning goal was scored by defender Danilo, ensuring the red-black celebration throughout the country.

With the victory, Flamengo boasts four continental titles, won in 1981, 2019, 2022, and 2025, establishing itself as one of the greatest forces in football on the continent. Palmeiras remains with three titles (1999, 2020, and 2021), alongside Santos and Grêmio, while Independiente from Argentina continues as the greatest champion, with seven titles.

The Secretary of State for Sports and Leisure, Cássio Andrade, highlighted the symbolism of the tribute and the importance of Mangueirão for Brazilian sports. “Mangueirão is experiencing a historic phase. Our stadium is not just the home of Pará football, but a national stage. Today we honor the champion of America, and next year we will host Flamengo for the match against Clube do Remo in the Série A, in a game that is already making history even before it happens,” emphasized the head of Seel.

Fully modernized, the stadium has been hosting national and international competitions. In 2026, it will be the scene of another historic moment: the clash between Remo and Flamengo in the Série A of the Brazilian Championship, marking the return of the Pará club to the elite of Brazilian football after 32 years.
