Pará launches Environmental Reconciliation Drive with discounts of up to 50% on fines

The government of Pará, through the State Secretariat for the Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas), began this Monday (1st) the Environmental Reconciliation Drive. This is the 9th drive held this year alone. The initiative, which runs until December 5 at the Semas headquarters in Belém, offers special conditions for the payment of fines, including discounts of up to 50% and installment options, facilitating the closure of processes and contributing to the reduction of bureaucracy. The action is coordinated by the Environmental Reconciliation Center (Nucam) and is part of Semas's strategy to seek effectiveness in environmental management, reconciling oversight with dialogue.

The Deputy Secretary for Administrative Management and Technologies at Semas, Lília Márcia Ramos Reis, explains that cases are analyzed individually in reconciliation rooms: "The discount can vary from 30% to 50%, depending on the stage of the process, and there is the possibility of installment payments."

Reis also highlights the importance of the initiative not only for those fined but for the environment of Pará. “The collected funds are allocated to the State Environmental Fund and are directly applied in oversight, monitoring, and the recovery of degraded areas. In other words, by regularizing their situation, the fined party directly contributes to the protection of the Pará Amazon,” she emphasizes.
