Vehicle traffic at the intersection of Rua Belém with Avenida Visconde de Souza Franco, in the Reduto neighborhood of Belém, will be temporarily interrupted for essential services on the sewage network. The road blockage is scheduled to begin at 7 PM this Friday (28) and will extend until 6 AM on Saturday (29).

The closure is necessary for teams from the State Department of Public Works (Seop) to interconnect the sewage network to the existing inspection well on the road. This action is crucial for the continuation of the paving works on Rua Belém, scheduled for Saturday (29), as part of the New Doca project.

Drivers traveling in the area are advised by Seop to use alternative routes during the closure period.

COP 30 - The works of the New Doca are among the structural investments in preparing Belém to host the Conference of the Parties of the United Nations (COP 30) in November 2025. Initiated by Seop, the revitalization of the area around Avenida Visconde de Souza Franco aims to modernize urban infrastructure and transform the location into a space for community and leisure for the population.

The project includes the creation of a Linear Park with leisure, culture, and gastronomy areas, as well as significant improvements in the region's infrastructure, such as the implementation of modern drainage systems to prevent flooding and revitalization of the waterfront. The expectation is that the New Doca will become another postcard of the city, boosting tourism and the local economy.

On Thursday (27), Seop began a new phase of the works, paving 4,000 square meters of sections around Block 1. This stage, which precedes the closure of Rua Belém, demonstrates the constant progress of the work and the state government's commitment to delivering a completely renovated space for COP 30, as well as for the continuous use of residents and visitors of Belém.

The paving of Rua Belém, scheduled for Saturday, is the third and final stage of this initial phase of asphalting.
