Detranzinho is a pedagogical space that works towards building a safer traffic for everyone

The State Department of Transit (Detran) received 32 students from four state schools located in the municipality of Mãe do Rio, in the Rio Capim integration region, northeastern Pará. The students came to Belém this Wednesday (23) to participate in the activities of the Detranzinho Project.

The pedagogical program respects the age group of the students, who were divided by classroom according to age and activities. All actions aimed to teach and raise awareness about safe behavior, ethics, and traffic laws, contributing to the formation of future drivers.

Detran offers a playful program with professionals who address the importance of safe traffic. The activity includes lectures, games in the mini-circuit, screening of educational films, a visit to the Sentinela, and puppet theater, which promote dialogue and interaction with the children.

Awareness - The manager of Programs and Pedagogical Projects of the Education Coordination of Detran, Edilssa Carla Dias, highlighted the opportunity for children from other cities to visit Detranzinho, and emphasized that municipalities can schedule visits to the space in search of playful traffic education. "Today, we received students from the municipality of Mãe do Rio, awarded as the best of the year, to participate in an important traffic education action. The activity is pedagogical and playful, promoting knowledge and awareness. The municipality's initiative to provide this experience also serves as encouragement for other students and municipalities," said the manager.

The visit is important for the children. Many came to the capital of Pará for the first time and also visited the Central Operations Control – Sentinela, where Detran conducts traffic monitoring with the support of video monitoring. The technician of the "Sentinela", Jailson Rodrigues, explained how the Central works and the contribution of technology to the human work carried out on state highways.

Monitoring - Through the cameras, the "Sentinela" detects in real-time vehicles with overdue licensing and reports of theft or robbery, drivers without helmets, without a driver's license (CNH), and driving on the shoulder, among other irregularities. The image identifies details such as license plate, chassis, highway, kilometer, and municipality where the vehicle is traveling.

Jailson Rodrigues showed the most common traffic violations in municipalities in the interior, including vehicles without plates and with overdue licensing, as well as drivers without helmets and unlicensed.

The students listened attentively to the explanations and clarified doubts about the equipment. Kayla Pinheiro, 10 years old, took notes because, according to her, she wants to be a lawyer or a police officer, and needs to know the traffic laws. "I learned about vehicles, even those that were stolen, because they can be tracked by the license plate and even by the person's accessory, like the helmet. It's safer for a person to learn than to die in traffic," said Kayla.

For educators from Mãe do Rio, the contact with the universe of Detranzinho and all the learning tools it provides helps reinforce educational actions in the school. "I think it's very important for them to come, so they can feel up close what we already do in the municipality. Traffic education is, above all, educating for life. We seek to provide educational activities that help students internalize values and, in the future, become responsible drivers. They are experiencing this in practice, through playful activities, games, and interactions that complement everything we already do," informed Francisca Alencar, coordinator of Traffic Education in Mãe do Rio.

Kayla Pinheiro: learning saves lives

Essential values - Detranzinho is a pedagogical project of Detran aimed at traffic education. The space teaches, in a playful way, how to cross at the crosswalk, the correct use of equipment, and appropriate behavior on the roads.

Intended for public and private schools and institutions with social purposes, the project aims to instruct children and adolescents about essential values for safe traffic, encouraging them to pass on this learning to their families.

Service: Schools interested in participating in Detranzinho should request a visit by email: [email protected].
