The Experimental Waldemar Henrique Theater will be the stage for the 'Choro do Pará' concert next Sunday, May 4th. The performance is free and will mark the end of the first module of workshops dedicated to this rhythm held at the Casa das Artes in Belém. The show starts at 7:30 PM.

The performance also celebrates National Choro Day, celebrated on the last 23rd. The repertoire includes works by Pixinguinha, Jacó do Bandolim, Thiago Amaral, and other masters of Pará's choro, such as Adamor Ribeiro.

The 'Choro do Pará' is a project conceived from a workshop aimed at increasing the visibility of the musical style and attracting new musicians to join the 'choro' symphony.

The initiative is from the Government of the State of Pará, through the Cultural Foundation of Pará (FCP), and offers four annual modules of workshops for free. The classes cover various instruments, such as guitar, cavaquinho, and percussion, among others.

“The importance of the Choro do Pará project lies in the fact that it is a school specialized in the Choro genre, completely free. It is one of the first free Choro schools in Brazil and one of the oldest, completing 19 years this year,” says the sound language coordinator of the Casa das Artes, Paulo Moura.

The coordinator also points out that “the activity also aims to form new groups. Since its first concert, held at the end of 2006, several groups have been formed, including Charme do Choro, which is composed exclusively of women and remains active to this day.”
