Through the project Music in Museums, the series of free performances in spaces in Belém, organized by the Carlos Gomes Foundation, is back. This May, the project will promote three special recitals. The first performance will be a Guitar Duo, held on Thursday (8th) at 4 PM, at the Federal Justice Auditorium, with free admission.

Professor and guitarist Maurício Gomes will perform on Thursday (8th) with musician José Cláudio

The performance with the guitar duo will feature the participation of the guitar teacher from the Carlos Gomes State Institute, Maurício Gomes, with guest José Cláudio. The musicians will interpret works by Francisco Mignone, Pixinguinha, Heitor Villa-Lobos, among other composers. The performance will take place at the new partner space of the project, the Federal Justice Auditorium (Rua Domingos Marreiros, 598, Umarizal).

In the following week, it will be the turn of the concert by pianist and IECG professor, Daniel Vieira. The musician will present a solo recital at the Church of Santo Alexandre at 7 PM. According to Daniel, the repertoire will honor works by Fructuoso Vianna (1896 - 1976), a composer from Minas Gerais. "The theme of this presentation will be 'Miniatures for piano by Fructuoso Vianna – Dances, Variations, and Toadas', and it will showcase the musical security of his style, and as it is an anthropographic work, rich in sound manipulation and with elaborate pianism," highlights Vieira.

Professor and pianist Daniel Vieira will present a solo recital in the second week of Music in Museums

Closing the schedule of presentations for the month, Professor Daniel will perform again at Music in Museums, this time with the "North-South Duo" formed by the pianist and tenor Tiago Costa, on May 20th, also at 7 PM, at the Church of Santo Alexandre. During the concert, the duo will be joined by music technician and baritone Ytanaã Figueiredo.

For this concert, Professor Daniel shares: "One of our goals is to offer concerts with Latin and Brazilian songs. For the 20th, we will expand this panorama and deliver to the audience a program that denotes and values 'Bel Canto', that is, 'beautiful singing' (in Italian)," says the musician, who will interpret arias from the Opera Elixir of Love by Gaetano Donizetti, as well as songs by Franz Liszt, Alberto Nepomuceno, and Cláudio Santoro," explains the pianist.

Coordinator of Music in Museums Emmanuel Penna

According to Emmanuel Penna, coordinator of the artistic groups of the Carlos Gomes Foundation and the project, "Music in Museums seeks to provide the public with free musical performances in museums and cultural spaces in the capital of Pará, ensuring public access to culture, in addition to showcasing the work that teachers and students develop throughout the year in the IECG courses," states the manager.

The project, according to the coordinator, has increased the number of performances this year. "We have managed, through new partnerships, to schedule more recitals for 2025. The partnerships with the spaces allow the public to experience the musical performance of different formations for chamber music, taking music beyond the gates of the IECG," points out Penna.
