Rare Collections Preservation and Conservation Workshop open for registration until May 11

This workshop aims to contribute to the conservation and preservation of the bibliographic materials of the Arthur Vianna Public Library (BPAV)

The Cultural Foundation of Pará is open for registrations until May 11 for the Rare Collections Preservation and Conservation Workshop. With two classes available (15 spots each), the course will take place between May 12 and 23, in the restoration room, located on the 3rd floor of the headquarters of the Cultural Foundation of Pará (FCP). To register, simply fill out the form available.

This workshop aims to contribute to the conservation and preservation of the bibliographic materials of the Arthur Vianna Public Library (BPAV), offering students and the general community the opportunity to learn essential techniques, such as disbinding, cleaning, and restoration.

The classes are divided into two schedules: from 8 AM to 12 PM and from 2 PM to 6 PM. The course is organized into two modules:

1. Restoration of Collections - 20th Century Periodicals: In this module, participants will learn techniques to restore periodicals damaged by time, which require immediate intervention.

2. Collection Housing: Here, students will discover appropriate methods for housing, using specific materials for the safe storage of these works.
