The Government of Pará, through the State Housing Company (Cohab), delivered on Wednesday (7) the housing benefit "Your House" to over 40 families affected by a windstorm that occurred last Sunday (4) in the district of Mosqueiro, in Belém. The action was carried out 48 hours after the disaster, ensuring immediate support to those who were left homeless.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Cities, Jader Filho, who visited the affected houses, spoke with the residents, and announced a task force for reconstruction and humanitarian support, coordinated among the federal, state, and municipal governments.

“I came from Brasília with technicians from the National Civil Defense to reinforce this reconstruction task force. We have here the Cohab team, representing Governor Helder Barbalho and Vice Hana, in addition to Vice Mayor Cássio representing Belém's Mayor Igor Normando. The most important thing is that no one was injured. Now, our mission is to ensure comfort and safety for these families with social rent and housing benefits, so that the works can begin and the losses can be repaired,” said Minister Jader Filho.

Quick response and direct support to families

The "Your House" program consists of delivering checks for the purchase of construction materials and assistance for labor payment, allowing the reconstruction of homes with autonomy and dignity. The amount can reach up to R$ 21,000 per family.

“We are here with Minister Jader Filho bringing the support of the State Government to these families. Governor Helder and our vice governor joined efforts to ensure that these people can return to living well as soon as possible,” highlighted the president of Cohab, Manoel Pioneiro.

The windstorm caused various damages in Mosqueiro, such as roofs being torn off houses, fallen trees, and electric poles, directly affecting dozens of families.

Families thank for emergency support

Housewife Maria do Socorro Moraes had the roof of her home completely torn off by the wind. Now, with the check in hand, she plans to rebuild her house and the bathroom:

“I will fix everything properly with this check I am receiving. I am very grateful to the State Government and to our vice governor, who made a point of personally delivering the benefit,” she said.

Also a housewife, Rosemary Rayol recalled the difficult moment and expressed relief with the support received. “It was very sad to see our house completely roofless and cracked. My husband earns less than a minimum wage, we had no way to rebuild. But now, with this check, I know we will make it. We are very grateful for the help.”

Integrated action with the municipality

The City Hall of Belém also participated in the action, represented by Vice Mayor Cássio Andrade, as well as teams from the Municipal Housing Secretariat (Sehab), Security, Public Order and Mobility (Segbel), Municipal Civil Defense, and the sub-mayor of Mosqueiro, Renato Brandão.
