Composed of nearly 1,500 professionals, including nurses and nursing technicians, the Nursing staff of the Santa Casa de Misericórdia do Pará Foundation (FSCMPA) represents the largest professional category in the hospital and promotes care in a qualified and humanized manner.

"Our nursing team is on the front line for patient improvement at all times, from planning the therapeutic project, executing this project, monitoring, and ensuring integrated care. Our nursing team has been evolving exponentially, seeking technical improvement, strengthening over the years, understanding its role, working on interaction with other professional categories, and taking the lead in its profession in this health scenario," emphasizes Dr. Norma Assunção, the medical director of Santa Casa.

In pursuit of excellence in the work of nursing professionals, Santa Casa invests in the ongoing qualification of the team through training, symposiums, courses, and projects. Among the most recent and significant is the Aprimorar Enfermagem, created in 2022, which has already offered nine modules of nursing knowledge on the Moodle platform, where currently 917 nursing professionals are enrolled, generating 1,224 nursing qualifications.

"We can consider the Aprimorar Enfermagem as the largest permanent education project in nursing in the Northern region, in the public health segment. The goal is to enhance the technical, scientific, instrumental, and managerial knowledge of professionals in the category," states Benedita Martins, the general coordinator of nursing at Santa Casa, who also notes the purpose of ensuring excellence and quality in the acquisition of knowledge to be a reference in nursing education processes in the public health segment in the northern region, without losing focus on the patient.

"We work on continuing education, using learning and continuous development methods aimed at strengthening the technical and behavioral excellence of professionals, through a learning path divided into institutional, professional, sectoral, and individual axes and themes, in order to ensure greater patient satisfaction and results in the process," she concludes.

In addition to the Aprimorar Enfermagem, in the year 2024 alone, the training for nurses and nursing technicians at Santa Casa totaled 693 hours of training. In 2025, another event that added and promoted the exchange of knowledge among professionals in the field was the Second Symposium on Nursing Care Management, which provided a broad debate on nursing and sustainability, with the general theme "Nursing at COP 30: The legacy for Pará."

On the next May 15, there will be a program commemorating Nursing Week aimed at professionals working in the hospital.
