The Government of Pará, through the State Housing Company (Cohab), carried out this Saturday (16), a new delivery of the housing benefit 'Your House' for families in the district of Mosqueiro, in Belém. This time, families that had not been assisted in the first emergency action after the storm that hit the island, as well as residents living in homes without adequate housing conditions, were contemplated.

The action took place at the NGO "The Sun Shone in the Bay of Sun", located in Mosqueiro, where 54 new families received checks from the housing program, totaling an investment of approximately R$ 400 thousand.

“We returned to Mosqueiro after the storm to take care of the people whose homes were damaged. But we also made new visits and identified other families that had not yet been assisted and live in precarious situations. Cohab and the government of Helder Barbalho are here to ensure dignified housing for those who need it most,” highlighted the president of Cohab, Manoel Pioneiro.

In the first emergency delivery, carried out less than 48 hours after the storm that occurred on the 4th, 41 families had already been benefited. Now, with the new stage, the number of assisted families exceeds 90.

The 'Your House' program provides two types of assistance: one for the purchase of construction materials and another for labor payment. The amount can reach up to R$ 21 thousand per family, ensuring adequate housing conditions and dignity.

The retiree Thelma Gomes Lourenço, 66, celebrates the support received. “This benefit will help me finish my house. I want to plaster, put tiles, make a kitchen and another room. Today we live in two compartments and now, finally, I will be able to live better with my family,” she said emotionally.

Another beneficiary, Eliane Farias, had her house damaged during the storm. “My house is very deteriorated, with cracks in the walls and a compromised roof. With this resource, I will be able to fix everything that needs it,” she reported.

The president of the host NGO, Rute Cardoso, emphasized the social role of the program and the direct positive impact on the lives of the families assisted.

“It is a very gratifying day. We closely follow the reality of these families — many are single mothers, unemployed, living in very deteriorated houses. 'Your House' comes as a relief and a hope. We are very grateful to the Government of Pará for this initiative,” she stated.
