Since the beginning of its activities in April, the Polyclinic Carajás in Marabá has been consolidating itself as an important reinforcement for the public health network in southeastern Pará. Focused on expanding the population's access to specialized medical consultations, the unit has already performed more than 1,300 consultations in just over a month.

Elivelton Alves dos Santos was attended by the ophthalmology service and praised the structure of the unit

For Elivelton Alves dos Santos, 28, a resident of Novo Repartimento in the Tucuruí Lake region, the experience at the Polyclinic exceeded expectations. “Everything was excellent. The doctor was attentive, showed a lot of knowledge, and the equipment is state-of-the-art. You can feel that the structure was designed to really take care of us,” he reported, satisfied.

The Polyclinic is part of the Government of Pará's strategy to strengthen the regionalization of health, bringing specialized care closer to the population. The initiative contributes to early diagnosis and treatment of diseases, in addition to providing comfort to users, with a modern structure and humanized care.

Jonas de Souza needed the hepatology service: "I was well received, and I am calm to continue the treatment,” he said.

For Jonas Cabral de Souza, 58, a resident of Itupiranga in the Tucuruí Lake region, the service at the Polyclinic was a great opportunity. Referred for a consultation with the hepatologist, he said he was relieved to have access to the care he needed. “Thank God I found this service here. We who live in the countryside know how difficult it is to see a specialist like this. I was well received, and now I am calm to continue the treatment,” he shared.

Priscilla Santos, the unit's service leader, emphasizes that the institution's team undergoes constant training to ensure care that goes beyond technical care. “Our focus is to welcome each patient with attention and respect, understanding that health also involves empathy and listening. We work to ensure that access to services is quick and uncomplicated, always ensuring that the care is humanized,” she explained.

Specialties

The Polyclinic Carajás, managed by the Institute of Social and Environmental Health of the Amazon (ISSAA) and the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), offers more than 25 medical specialties, ensuring expanded and qualified access to health. Among the most sought-after areas are general cardiology, orthopedics, gynecology, urology, otorhinolaryngology, rheumatology, mastology, nephrology, dermatology, ophthalmology, and psychiatry.

The unit also includes specialties such as allergy (adult and pediatric), pediatric and pre-operative cardiology, clinical neurology, endocrinology (adult and pediatric), gastroenterology (adult and pediatric), hematology (adult and pediatric), hepatology, infectious diseases, nephrology (adult and pediatric), pulmonology, and anesthesiology.

“Since the opening, our priority has been to provide excellent, close, and humanized care for the population. We are proud of the results achieved so far, and we remain committed to ensuring that each patient receives qualified care, respect, and welcome in the service,” highlighted Joabe Lopes, executive director of Polyclinic Carajás.

The director also emphasized that the unit innovates by incorporating telemedicine services, allowing the population to access specialties that are not found in the region. “With telemedicine, the patient is attended to in the outpatient clinic by a general practitioner, who stays by their side during the consultation. At the same time, the specialist who is in another city participates in the consultation in real-time, through image and voice. They interact, evaluate the exams together, and define the best path for treatment. This way, we can bring specialties that are not available in the region to those who need them,” Joabe emphasized.

Regulation - The services at the Polyclinic are regulated by the State Regulation Center, under the responsibility of the State Department of Public Health (Sespa). To access the services, the citizen must first go to a Basic Health Unit, where they will be evaluated and receive a referral. Then, they must take the document and personal data to the Municipal Health Department, which will register and schedule them in the State Regulation System.

Profile: The Polyclinic Carajás is a reference for 17 municipalities in the Carajás region and adjacent areas, acting as an important hub for the regionalization of health in southeastern Pará. The unit performs high-complexity exams and consultations in various specialties, which help promote early diagnosis and treatment of various clinical conditions. Integrated into the Unified Health System (SUS), it offers 100% free care, focusing on humanization and excellence in care.
