Cultural Foundation of Pará strengthens the collection of 11 libraries in São Domingos do Araguaia
The delivery of the new books took place during the reopening ceremony of the public library of the municipality

The Cultural Foundation of Pará (FCP) delivered 5,200 new books to strengthen the collection of eleven libraries located in the municipality of São Domingos do Araguaia. The delivery took place during the reopening ceremony of the municipal public library Welliene Almeida Lima, on the night of this Monday, the 19th.
The titles were delivered by the president of the Cultural Foundation of Pará, Thiago Miranda. "It is always gratifying to participate in moments like this. The delivery of collections to libraries is one of the material milestones of the work carried out by the FCP, which is to promote culture, in its various languages, throughout Pará," summarizes the president.

In addition to enhancing the collection of the municipal library, the new books will go to ten libraries located in public schools in the region. The coordinator of the State Library System, Marinilde Barbosa, and the coordinator of the National Library System, Marina de Lima Rabelo, also participated in the event that marked the reopening of the public space and the increase of the collections.
"Reopening this library is a great joy for us. It is one of the policies we need to encourage throughout Brazil, the reopening of libraries. A facility that is often the only cultural space in the city," declares the representative of the Ministry of Culture, Marina de Lima.
Reopening - Closed since the Covid-19 pandemic, the space housing the municipal library has been completely renovated, in partnership with the Government of Pará, through the FCP.
"This space we are delivering today is not just a library; it is a center for reading, culture, and citizen education. The reopening of the library is more than the recovery of a physical space; it is the appreciation of local identity and a bet on the transformative power of knowledge," declares the mayor of São Domingos do Araguaia, Elizane Soares.
Transformation - The activity that started as an obligation is now done with pleasure. This is how reading entered the life of student Júlia Costa, one of the enthusiastic participants in the library's reopening.
"In my school, every term we had to read a book and then carry out an activity about it, so I was forced to start reading books, but little by little I became interested in the stories and today I read for pleasure. That’s why I was very happy when I learned that our city would have a library," reports the young girl.
