Setur supports world Beach Tennis event in Tucuruí, southeastern Pará
The event will take place in June and is expected to attract athletes and tourists from Brazil and abroad

The State Secretariat of Tourism (Setur) is the new partner of one of the largest world Beach Tennis events, the ITF BT 400 - Amazônia Open Sunset 2025, which will be held from June 16 to 22 in Tucuruí. This is the second time the event is held in Pará and in Northern Brazil, attracting international athletes and tourists.
This year's competition will have a total prize of $35,000 and will distribute 470 points to each champion duo. The organization expects to gather athletes from 10 countries in 2025, and throughout the week, 20,000 people are expected to attend the event.
In 2024, the edition featured 1,250 athletes from 9 countries: Brazil, Venezuela, Italy, Latvia, Spain, France, Japan, Portugal, and Colombia.
The athlete from Belém, Brenda Rique, shone last year by winning the tournament, with a prize of $4,000, her biggest trophy, which not only earned her points for the world ranking but also served as a warm-up for the Amazônia Open. "I am happy to be able to participate once again in the tournament. Last year's tournament was unforgettable for me; I won my 1st BT50 title, and after that tournament, only good things came for me; I ended the year very well," said the current number 1 in Pará and 74th in the world ranking, who after the trophy in 2024 in Tucuruí won two more BT 50 in Teresina and another in Chile.
"This year I will play again alongside Brenda Brissac, and I am looking forward to the tournament; if last year was a success, I am sure this year will be even better," evaluates Brenda Rique.
New features this year - The event will have new features in 2025 with a court for two thousand people. The matches will be played from late afternoon. The tournament starts on Monday, the 16th, with the BT 10 without prize money.
The ITF BT 400 will begin with the qualifiers on Tuesday, the 17th. The main draw has gained an extra day and will start on Wednesday, the 18th, with the entire first round for both men and women. On Thursday, the 19th, the round of 16 will be played, on Friday, the 20th, the quarter-finals, and on Saturday, the 21st, the semi-finals and finals. On Sunday, the 22nd, a new BT 10 tournament without prize money will be held. Throughout the week, a youth stage ITF BJ 100 will also take place.
For the head of Setur, Eduardo Costa, tourism related to sports events is in full expansion and has a significant impact on destinations, attracting tourists and boosting the local economy. "The Amazônia Open of Beach Tennis is established as a major sports, cultural, and tourism celebration in the Northern region, contributing to the expansion of the sport and promoting community integration, leisure, and sustainable tourism," stated the head.
