An inspection operation by the State Department of Finance (Sefa) of Pará resulted, last Wednesday (21), in the seizure of an irregular load of 145 plywood doors with accessories, valued at R$ 35,745.30. The goods were being transported covertly in a box truck, among PVC pipes, with an inconsistent invoice.

The action was conducted by inspectors assigned to the Coordination of Goods in Transit Control of the Gurupi unit, located in the municipality of Cachoeira do Piriá, in northeastern Pará. The team was suspicious of the reduced quantity of pipes described in the invoice, compared to the capacity of the transporting vehicle, which prompted the opening of the cargo compartment for inspection.

"During the verification, we found, among the pipes, 145 units of plywood doors with their respective accessories," reported the coordinator of the tax unit, Gustavo Bozola.

After the discovery, the driver presented a new invoice, issued in Arcoverde (PE) and destined for Santana (AP). However, when questioned by the inspectors, the driver admitted that the load had been picked up in São Luís (MA) and was destined for the capital of Pará, Belém — which constituted a divergence in the information provided and invalidated the documentation, especially since it was presented only after the inspection had begun.

Given the irregularity, Sefa issued a Seizure and Deposit Term (TAD) in the amount of R$ 18,195.53, corresponding to the tax due and the applied fine.

The operation is part of the ongoing actions to combat tax evasion and the irregular transport of goods carried out by Sefa throughout the Pará territory, to ensure revenue collection and the legality of commercial activities in the state.
