FCP concludes week of Meetings with over 38 thousand books delivered in the Araguaia and Carajás integration regions
The deliveries were part of the program of the Meeting with Public Managers and Parliamentarians (EGPP), promoted by FCP in partnership with the Ministry of Culture
Between May 19 and 23, the Cultural Foundation of Pará (FCP) delivered 38,600 books in the integration regions of Araguaia and Carajás. The deliveries were part of the program of the Meeting with Public Managers and Parliamentarians (EGPP), promoted by FCP in partnership with the Ministry of Culture (MinC) and held in the cities of Redenção and Marabá.
All the books delivered by FCP were written by authors from Pará, edited and published in the State. An additional way to value the culture of Pará. This is stated by the president of the Cultural Foundation of Pará, Thiago Miranda.
“The literary production of Pará is very strong and it needs to be increasingly known, valued, and strengthened. When the Cultural Foundation of Pará supplies libraries with books or promotes courses and workshops related to reading, we seek not simply to form readers, but to form readers of works by Pará authors,” details Thiago Miranda.
Reach - The works of Pará writers were delivered during the first two editions of the EGPP, held in the Araguaia and Carajás regions. However, libraries located in neighboring integration regions were also benefited by the loan of books from Pará authors.
Jacundá, a municipality located in the Lago do Tucuruí integration region, was one of those that received an increase in the collection of its libraries. Iara Alves, municipal secretary of education, highlighted the importance of the delivery.
“We realize that our community is lacking in terms of culture. And by receiving these books, we will strengthen the municipal libraries. And the more this cultural equipment is strengthened with a good collection of books, the more our community will have the opportunity to educate and re-educate itself,” points out Iara Alves.
EGPP - The deliveries of books by Pará authors marked the conclusion of the first two editions of the Meeting with Public Managers and Parliamentarians (EGPP). The second Meeting took place this Friday, the 23rd, in the auditorium of the State University of Pará (UEPA), in Marabá.
The EGPP aims to discuss and encourage policies for valuing books, reading, and libraries. The program of the meeting includes a roundtable discussion, a lecture, and a workshop on fundraising through parliamentary amendments, taught by the coordinator of the national library system, Marina Rabelo, who came to Pará representing the Ministry of Culture.
The next edition of the EGPP will take place in June, in Altamira, one of the municipalities that make up the Xingu integration region in Pará.
